bah, terrible shootout by the Hatters, such a scrappy game. And I would totally get a flat in the corner of Brisbane Road if I lived in London
I've always kept an eye on Orient since I saw them play Grimsby at Brisbane Rd back in like 2005 or something like that. That's all I got - but I liked the ground back then and it looks to have been developed quite nicely since. Would be crazy to find them in the Champ next season.
Not sure why people are moaning about Everton's new stadium being named for a Liverpool-based law firm. This has been the way for clubs since the 80s: find opportunities to generate revenue outside of selling tickets, matchday programs, et. al.
Eze converts on a swift counterattack to put CP in front on City 15 mins into the FA Cup final. would be fun to see them win
Henderson should probably have been sent off, but City given a penalty they shouldn't be and Henderson saves it.
And Silva wins a PK for a clear dive that should have been overturned by VAR, but justice prevails as Henderson makes a great save on the kick taken by Marmoush.
I never saw any angles from the sidelines that would give a clear view of the handball. If I was a City fan (and thank the Lord I’m not) I’d feel aggrieved by that decision. Very close call to be sure. and you’d think the offsides software VAR uses would work in that handball situation, but with how PGMOL operates, they would never “misuse” technology like that to overrule a mate.
Yeah, I think Palace got extremely lucky. It's only Henderson's slap on the ball that takes it really wide. Haaland can left foot touch over to his right easily if the ball isn't slapped. On the pen, Silva does what Silva does. It's a dive but the defender needs to be smarter there and not go to ground to give him that opportunity.
On the handball, I don’t know why Henderson didn’t just run through the ball and play off his chest. He certainly had the angle and advantage to do so. That’s what made it so surprising to me. Perhaps he didn’t want to make body contact with Haaland, but if he had played the ball off his chest then he likely either wins possession or Haaland fouls him for a free kick. and on Silva’s dive, there’s no reason for Mitchell to make a slide tackle near the goal line. That was really dumb on his part. I’m still surprised/annoyed VAR didn’t overturn as replay clearly showed that Silva had already jumped with both feet and contact was only made as he was landing and no chance to play the ball. My guess is the PK was the ref’s attempt to balance out the Henderson no handball decision.
One of the replays shows after it comes off Silvas foot the Palace defender gets a toe on it before it gets the man. It should never have been a penalty. The feed I am watching was clear as day.
Not exactly the prettiest way to win your first ever significant trophy, but Palace won’t give a shit. It also shows how a “well organized” team can thwart a “expansive” team. It was boring horseshoe of death for Pep and Citeh.
Man City fumbling the FA Cup after their supporters were shitting on us is just *chefs kiss*. So often since we got knocked out of the CL I saw "Arsenals best season is 2nd, ours is 3rd and an FA Cup" from Citys scummy supporters online. No FA Cup and 3rd isn't a sure thing anymore for Bonesaw FC, they got their cheatcode robot striker back for the final and still lost without scoring a goal. Exceptional.
Side on image my salty City mate sent, no sympathy after he said Trossards red @ City was the correct call.
tRump's magic sharpie? Also, worth noting Gillett who was on VAR today was also the VAR who recommended the ref review his on field yellow on Saliba and change it to a red for DOGSO against Bournemouth back in October.
I've been on vacation for 10 days so just having a chance to catch up with this. Right up there with the most last minute of last minute winners to earn a trip to Wembley. I've got nothing against SAFC back in the Prem, if they can pull it off in a week, but I really would've rather seen CCFC back in the top flight after so many years adrift. Not to mention seeing if Lamps could try to prove himself again, and Haji Wright given his first chance in the big league. Oh well, it wasn't to be. p.s. This SUFC-SAFC playoff final at 9am Saturday, enhances that day as "appointment viewing" as Arsenal Women take on the mighty Barca in the UWCL Final at Noon. BTOBS.
