Eddies Palace doing us no favours atm, down 0-1 at home to Pool, Pool barely out of 2nd gear and this feels like a lazy 2 or 3 goal win. Hopefully Eddie can lift.
He couldn’t manage to stay onside. Otherwise, it could’ve been a very different game in the first minute or so. About to finish 1-0 to LFC (3’ to go) BUT Alison Becker did his hammie(?) and Kelleher isn’t even on bench. Hmm…
Brentford do it again! Well almost. They score right at the off for the 4th straight game? Though this time only within 2' not 1'
At least he had 2 decent shots on target today, its more than most of his teammates bothered to do today.
Meanwhile Nelson picked up an assist in Fulham’s 3-2 loss to City. Arsenal now even on points and goal differential with City.
Fulham have been my quiet second team since the McBride days, but now with all the Arsenal alums playing there, plus Robinson (and recently Ream) I'm still "connected" As for our place in the table, we're level with Citeh except apparently in goals scored, thus they appear ahead of us. This season has started great. Virtually no wiggle room at the top, and a sense that after just 7 games, you drop points at your peril.
lol. Haven’t seen the game, but numbers suggest Fulham were unlucky to not get at least a point today. Pep’s teams have to have a midfield controller, and the injury to Rodri really hurts them.
I really don’t think it’s DeBruyne anymore. He’s been in decline for a while. Rodri, though, is basically irreplaceable. This is what I was saying about Saka earlier. Yes, we’re ‘over’ reliant on him, but what’s the alternative?
Not de Bruyne on his own. If he's out, they're fine. If Rodri's out, they're still capable but severely diminished. If they're both out, City's ********ed. Rodri has missed 5 league games this season and the only one of those in which they dropped points was one that KdB also missed. Last season, they only lost the 3 matches that Rodri missed, but KdB was out for all of them too. Even an in-decline de Bruyne had 24 goals+assists in 26 games last season.
And yet there they are tied with us in 2nd place, 1 point off top. I think you write Pep off at your peril. And I don’t mean you per se, but anyone.
After their 0-0 draw this morning I just saw a karma stat for United, they are goalless in their last three Premier League games.
A draw away at one of the big sides is a good result for club in a relegation fight. Ten Hag should keep his job for a while. The discussion of Chelsea as a bunch of plucky young upstart this morning on NBC rather than who they are - spending 1.5 billion since the takeover - was pretty ridiculous and nice to see them drop points at home vs 10-man Forest.
I’m not sure 5 goals in 7 league games (3 of which came in a single game) will be enough for Ten Hag to keep his job, as much as we may wish it so.
Their average age is a full 2 years younger than any other team in the league. Yeah, they spent a ton, but basically none of it was on established players. The oldest player they've used this season turned 27 two weeks ago.
Gotta love sp*rs blowing a 2-0 lead to give up 3 straight goals, the last of which by Arsenal legend Danny Welbeck.
