To be fair VAR is useless anyway, and when you do need VAR in cases where a second yellow should be rescinded they don't have that authority.

    VAR isn't useless.

English refs are, but VAR is not.

This is right. So much of the griping about VAR is really a gripe about the referees' cartel being, well, a cartel.

It’s almost as if they’ve intentionally tanked VAR’s implementation so that the technology can divert attention from them.

I’ve said this from the beginning. Other leagues aren’t struggling with VAR like this. We see it in UEFA and FIFA competitions and it’s not like this.

PGMOL wanted to tank it but can’t now.

    Wait a sec here~!

Victor Osimhen, the most sought after striker in the world...is going to Galatasaray...ON LOAN?!

PSR and FFP must be really biting at the big clubs because he would've been gone by the start of preseason.

It’s rumored that his agent’s fees were excessive too, which is probably why he negotiated the loan to Galatasaray himself.

Napoli owner one of the most delusional people out there, still thinks anyone would pay his 75M release clause. Brother please. And he was that delusional before he won the Scudetto.

I'm not gonna act like I understand all the FFP loopholes. I just assume Citeh and Chelsea, and everything they do, is shady as hell and no one has the balls to do anything about it.

And this news with the hotels makes me think the PL is going to lose the 115 charges case because every time something comes up they bottle it.

The only point of the rules is a moat to protect the big clubs as well as to try and keep a handle on cost inflation

No one really cares that Chelsea is cheating

Well, the Kroenkes did something similar. But it’s so stupid: this isn’t a related party transaction where both parties get something of value, which is what City did.

This is a same party transaction where assets are changing hands for accounting reasons and the PL is shrugging for . . . reasons. Like who cares how much Chelsea is selling something to Todd Boehly for. The whole thing is a sham.

PSR/FFP aren't meant to have any real teeth. Provide enough of a facade to show the government that they are doing "something" to prevent outside oversite. Like a lot of things in the corporate world, do just enough to show that you care (charity, diversity, preventing harassment/discrimination), but don't really do anything about it because that could affect the bottom line.

I don't disagree, but I think politically the EPL royalty won't care, whereas if Everton did this, they'd get 100 points deducted

Chelsea don't register Fofana, Palmer and Lavia for the Conference League. They claim it is "load management", which sounds smarter than "Oops, we bought too many players".

In one respect they do want to 'do something about it' because cost inflation is bad for the established EPL royalty - so they created anticompetitive rules designed to stop unlimited money from the gulf, billioniare investors types, and hedgies - the point is the rules are to stop outsiders from breaking in. The big guys are never likely to enforce the rules against each other, so long as no one takes the piss too badly.

I suspect they are unhappy about what Toddy has done, as he created cost inflation and churn but as he can't continue indefinitely i am sure they will do nothing and in return no one will complain when they also cheat

In many respects this is all total bullshit anyway. Like why is revenue from international noodle partners fine, but actual equity from 3rd party investors limited? why should a fake book transaction be ok, but actual cash from related party sponsors is not ok? why should you be allowed to do churn transfers to other clubs on 19 year contracts?

Wait... they didn't register Palmer... as in Cole Palmer... As in their best ********ing player?

I mean if they qualify further on in the comp they can register 3 players at the expense of 3 already in the squad but this Chelsea team is historically inconsistent so getting that deep in the comp isn't a sure thing, and the Conference League is their best chance at a trophy this year in my opinion.

Unless they play to use the Conference League to play guys they don't trust in the EPL to put them in the shop window.

If they aren’t playing Palmer, they really don’t care about those games.
