Lukaku has a second goal erased.
    first for offside
second for a handball in the buildup.

lukaku died after Everton lol such a poor player and under achiever

Also, the only teams that have really impressed me are Germany and Romania

I feel like Spain are vulnerable and Italy

England were average, just France left to see

Is there some reason France are not playing either Tchouameni or Camavinga?? And playing Rabiot and Kante instead???? And getting bossed by Austria???????

France look pretty toothless. The rest of their attacking line sans Mbappe is dreck, and they have no natural width

To be fair, it's not an irrational approach in the context of international footie. And it did get them to consecutive World Cup finals.

Stacking passers works great for other teams, but the passers have to know how to play together and with the players in front of them. A lot easier to park the bus and use elite attackers for ball progression and creativity.

I guess, but is that what this actually is? Are Kante and Rabiot some sort of defensive wall that Cama and Tchoua can’t be?

This is the same manager that ‘doesn’t like’ things that Saliba does (today’s 90 notwithstanding,) whatever that means.

Mbappe is gonna have to win this tournament single handidly

giroud and Kante are well past their best and the lack of creativity was bad

griezman might also be a bit passed his sell by

right but better to do it with higher quality players instead of a busted drug mule and a b list play maker.

something that is becoming really obvious in international football is the b list teams are ever more structured and organised in their defensive patterns. coming down to their level is a bad idea IMO. it takes away the advantages France has in terms of elite central midfielders in possession.

To be fair, Germany lost to Austria recently - so they are a decent side and typical of the highly organised b tier drone ball merchants you'll come across

Here is something I've been thinking about on and off, since experiencing these kinds of international tourneys with different sports and countries.

There is always a lot of narratives about failings of spirit/mentality and/or everything being fixed if only the manager would start [insert player]

But it can't really be the case that almost all the countries have weak mentality - is it just really hard to manage international sides at the EC/WC?

Kai Havertz has me thinking about this. In the last 6 months he looks amazing for Germany (new management) and for Arsenal. But applying these tactics is obviously much harder than "pass it to Mbappe"

To be fair to Tross, if he was in an Arsenal shirt he likely scores that.

He is probably really tired from being up all night thinking about how he has to try and make Lukaku look good.
