The last two games Klopp has been over the top with the celebrations, as have the Pool players. Arsenal is completely in their heads
It's been done before and better. Fun fact, I went to an awards banquet where she was honored as the KC female athlete of the year, she gave a really good speech. Lo'eau LaBonta faked the hamstring injury for the celebration 😂 (via @nwsl) pic.twitter.com/ZT2LZJjCRq— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) August 20, 2022 Would love to see Xhaka twerk. Or maybe not.
Bummer Bournemouth couldn’t get a late (and deserved) equalizer. They played well enough to earn a point, just didn’t finish their chances.
But its why I find it funny everyone think City are a sure thing. They don't look like they have the last few years. Teams are exploiting them more, and I think we see them lose and draw at least 2 more games this season. Its Liverpool I worry more about.
I’m almost with you there. City seem to be squeaking out more 1-goal wins lately than is normal. Which either means they’re very close to giving up more points, or that they’re just doing that champion thing of winning games when they’re not playing to their full potential. With their recent pedigree, it’s really hard to discount them. And I agree that Liverpool are really impressive/concerning. As I said to my wife at dinner tonight, we’re one of three in the hunt, but the other two are really really good teams. So I think it’s going to take both of them screwing up a bit for us to have a legitimate chance. And what are the odds of that?
If Rodri or de Bruyne miss any time between now and May, City won't win the league. I'm not really worried about City or Liverpool going on some kind of crazy run to win the league. We're the best team in the league this season, the question is whether we have the mentality to not ******** it up. I'm not sure that we do.
The issue is Pool need us to lose to City, and then Pool need to beat City. We need Pool and City to draw, and then beat City.
And the fitness. That seems like a huge wildcard for us especially. All 3 teams have had some significant injury setbacks this season but Pool seem to have had the worst, and yet look where they are in the table? That's one reason why I've been a little fearful of being able to pip them for the title.
VVD with a hugely important header for the 2nd week running. Maybe he's got his mojo back. Certainly is smiling more. Edit: VAR seems to have other ideas... disallowed for offside. That makes things even. Chelsea had their first goal ruled out because of 1" of offside.
But a classic VVD header off a corner secures the trophy right at the death. Saved everyone from the torture of PK's. Honestly not sure how that might affect Pool's determination in the other comps they're still in, especially the league. Can see both interpretations.
SHU lost again today which leaves them with 13 points from 26 games and a -44 GD (-11 behind Burnley also on 13 pts). OUCH. With 12 games to go, they are all but relegated. And we should wipe the floor with them in a week's time. But as we know it doesn't always go that way. Mikel's team preparation, especially mentally, may be critical.
I was hoping for PKs. I think this is a galvanising win for Pool, they went into the match with bad injuries, copped some during the match, had to sub on kids (people saying some of these kids aren't even on FM ) and they rolled over an overspending Chelsea. Hilarious how Carragher and Neville were making it sound like a David v Goliath battle because Chelsea have spent so much, and tried the narrative that Pool haven't spent much when the reality is their goal came from an $80mil defender they bought in a January window...
Apparently Carragher in his apoplexy over the disallowed goal complained about Arsenal’s tactics on set pieces. We’re living in his head.
Everton get their punishment reduced (BBC Sport). The reduction increases the gap between them and the bottom three...but they've got to win sometime and soon. Otherwise, April might become an extremely uncomfortable month for them to deal with.
Increases the gap...temporarily. They're expecting to get hit with another 6-point deduction later this season. The Premier League is handling this so poorly.
If the points deduction is based on PSR violations, why not have it be a formula? Everton lost £20m more than they were allowed to. Have a table where you are docked 3 points for every £10m (or whatever percentage that is) over. Or better yet, find a way to be proactive like the NFL. Don't allow clubs to sign new players if that would put them over the max.
