He looks like he made a deal, at the same cross roads that Robert Johnson visited nearly a century ago, to become the most prolific striker in the world.

This after Pep threw a cheap shot at Arteta in the post game makes it glorious.

It is unfortunate that, in this day and age, trials for war crimes are not a thing. Not exactly something to celebrate.

Even if the lack of prosecution benefits former Sperz managers like Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.

I didn't take Pep's comment as a cheap shot at all.

Do any of you speak a 2nd language? Imagine if you were held to a standard where every single sentence you spoke in that second language was scrutinized by native speakers of that language who were paid to create headlines and sell papers, and the readers of those papers were your worst enemies.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I think they are friends, but I also get the sense that Pep was a little pissed that Arteta jumped ship to grab the reins of another project.

For example, look at the way he lovingly embraced Klopp and Ange after they took points off him, compared to the cold handshake, he gave his “old buddy” Mikel.

It seems almost like a jilted lover. Or maybe rather a parent whose child is starting to exceed him in success and he can’t suppress his natural jealousy or competitiveness.

I sit here as armchair shrink, waiting for the incoming flak. :)

To me it felt like a subtle way to say I agree with Arteta, but I’m not going to say it out because I’ll get fined and may get a touch line ban.

He didn't have to mention Arteta's name at all, so it's a shot to me as well.

Arteta in the Luton presser laughed when asked about Peps comments after the Spurs game and said "onto the next one please".

Don't think it was a shot since Mikel laughed about it.

I didn't see the video, so maybe there's context I'm missing. But it certainly reads like a cheap shot. From MBM:

Pep Guardiola spoke about that late decision: “Next question. I will not do a Mikel Arteta comment. It is hard when you review the image, the referee decides to blow the whistle after he has already said to play on. After the pass, the whistle, so I do not understand this action.

FWIW - I don’t see Pep’s comments here being a dig at Arteta. To me, he’s cheekily confirming Arteta/Arsenal got screwed by the refs at Newcastle as City did yesterday without actually saying it’s a “disgrace.” It’s a smart inference without saying anything that gets him personally into trouble. One could definitely argue that Pep is being any ally rather than making a dig at Arteta.

Also, why hasn’t De Zerbi been charged by the FA yet? IMO, saying he doesn’t trust 80% of FA refs is far worse than calling the referees in a match a disgrace.

That’s not a dig. He’s saying he don’t like the ref’s call m, but won’t pull an Arteta.

It would be a diss if he put a pejorative or dismissive word around saying Teta’s name. He didn’t.
FA said they won’t charge him. The league is bent.
