Ah, very nice to see you back here Pook! But that post of yours is gonna get me in real trouble around here now.
You shared an Image of the regular league table. Sorted by xG differential, City and Newcastle are first and second. Arsenal is fourth.
Yeah, the original post asked for xGD, which isn’t a category that can be sorted by on that site. That’s why I shared the link for it and also kept the table based on league points. xGD is the red or green number in xPTS column. Based on that, we look to be 2nd and just above Spuds. [Edit: xGD doesn’t appear to be the red or green number in the xPTS column. That’s just difference between league points and xPTS. Here’s a link to one with xGD but it doesn’t have today’s games on it yet. ]
I thought the plus and minus is how much they are over or underperforming. We are over performing by 6.22.
I haven't yet gotten so stats-oriented that I go to sites like that, so if by chance you can share a screenshot of an xGD table once today's games are in, I'd be curious. If not, no biggie. It's not important enough to me to remember to keep checking for an updated one and then sort it.
The reversion to the mean will be a mothaf**a by then I hope we're too far ahead for it to matter. This weekend was a good start.
Supposedly he told him to check the monitor because Pawson apparently gave the penalty in real time, but with all the on-pitch drama that followed the commentators didn’t realize that and were confused about what was going on.
I loved seeing Haaland lose his rag. Mainly rooted in the bizarre decision by HR to not play advantage, but also perhaps rooted in the fact that he's come off the boil this season compared to last. And it's that last part I really love to see of course.
tbf, our XG goal difference is only behind City. I don't think we will have a reversion to the mean that hard. If we can start scoring goals again, I think we will take off.
It is kind of remarkable how effective Newcastle's drone ball is despite so many injuries. It feels like if you establish this type of system to a high level, you can make do with interchangeable hard running drones without having that many 'elite' players
It was interesting the extent to which Guimarães tore the Man U midfield a new one They simply don't have a central midfielder as good as him - especially when he is supported by those hard running drones. It wasn't till the end of the game when they got tired that the Utd midfield even got into the game
To be fair the only table that matters has us 3 points ahead of them and only behind them by 2 on GD.
Agreed. The way we're strangling teams and limiting their chances to basically only gifts from us bodes well. If we can keep that up and increase our chance creation, we'll stay in the hunt for the top.
Some compelling top half of the table matchups this week: Man City at Aston Villa on Wednesday Chelsea at Man United on Wednesday West Ham at Tottenham on Thursday

The funniest thing about Bruno G is that he's forgotten most of his Brasilian qualities and turned into a robotic guy who switches play even when not necessary BUT for Newcastle he works. United are abject in the midfield. For me the Newcastle standout was actually Miley, great intelligence in taking up space, and finding pockets and also pressing well. To be fair, Mainoo was their best midfielder but that has more to do with how terrible everyone else around him was. Per usual chance creation and conversion will win the EPL. Since Pep and Klopp got here 6 draws or less have won the League Title, I think this may be the year that that goes out of the window.
