Chelsea and Mudryk seem to have gotten a bit of their mojo back. Maybe all it took was to finally get a sponsor name on their shirts? Whatever Infinite Athlete is. HT FUL 0-2 CFC
They looked good. But road is long. This comes from beating BHA so it is positive for them and expecially Poch. The rumor Mill for the sack was growing.
Addition by subtraction playing without Nico Jackson today. He was suspended for yellow card accumulation...as a striker after 6 games, which is really funny to me.
They lack an end product, Sterling is their only top quality attacking player. Jackson is pretty young and shouldn't be relied on to be their focal point, and Muddy well he is talented but joined a dysfunctional club. Even then, Fulham were very very poor by their standards and Chelseas second goal was so flukey its unreal. We should put 5 past them in a few weeks when we play them.
He is by far their most consistent attacking player this season, but he leads Chelseas scoring with 2 after scoring 2 against Luton. No one else has multiple goals for them, with Disasi, Chukwuemeka, Jackson, Mudryk and Broja all having one goal each. And of their 7 goals scored this campaign, 3 against Luton and 2 against Fulham after they went through October goalless. They needed a strong striker, and they brought in Jackson. They needed a 26 year old striker who can score a reliable 25 odd per year. They have a 22 year old who currently is 1 goal in 7.
still happens now. Nba is really easy to manipulate. Just give a couple of soft fouls to an influential player in the first half and that’s it. The superstar calls in all sports are annoying
Oh really?! WTF did they think they were going to get to drink from that poisoned chalice? Poch might be their best option going forward at this point. They should blame themselves for being so **** last season that they can't even convince Oshimen to agree to a deal.
Just heard a Barca update: Sevilla have ceased official relations w/ Barca (communication, director reciprocity, etc) since the refereeing case has been upgraded from corruption to bribery. I wonder if more clubs will follow suit? I also wonder if the whole investigation (trial?) will end up with just a public wrist-slap for Barca, because of their historical political & financial power within Spanish football? Or whether they will truly be subject to laws, held to account, demoted, barred from competition, whatever? TBF, I have not dissimilar thoughts about a certain US President.
The only good thing about watching our UCL match on P+ today was that they cutover to Old Trafford after our FT to watch them lose to Gala... with boos raining down from the home fans. The sh1tshow which is Yanited continues, under just the latest failing manager.
I am really glad we didn't get Onana. I have seen 4 United games (PL only) and he has been worse than De Gea.
I just heard the audio clip from Darren England VAR f-up. Good that they released it but man does it seem damning. The big question I have is once they quickly realized the mistake that had been made, why is the refereeing code so bloody strict that they couldn’t immediately pause the game to go back and award the goal? The HR says some thing like “I can’t do anything“ Common sense, fairness and justice apparently need to take a bigger role in refereeing protocol. Edit: I’ve since heard that although they’re not currently allowed to stop the game to change the offside call, they could’ve stopped the game, told the coaches about the error and Ange could’ve decided to let Pool score an uncontested goal to “correct” the error. Apparently Bielsa did that at Leeds not long ago.
In cricket they have a script they follow to prevent things like this happening. They really need to use better language. VAR should be saying things like "Liverpool player onside, please award Liverpool the goal" or alternatively "Liverpool player offside, please award Tottenham free kick". Strong, direct language no one can ******** up.
Yeah, cricket has this down pat. Everyone already knows the umpires signal, but the player reviews and the first words are usually "we have a player review for not out, ruling on the field is lbw....." or something like that. The first thing the onfield ref should say is "ruling on the field is" and spell out what the call is, so then VAR knows what to review.
And, correct me if I am wrong, I think they will review everything. For example, batsmen is given out lbw but review shows something on ultra edge therefore the batsmen is not out lbw. However, a fielder caught the ball as it ballooned off the pad and since there was an edge, batsmen is out caught.
At least it's not in Saudi Arabia. Well, until 2034. 🚨 Morocco, Portugal & Spain set to stage 2030 World Cup🚨 To mark 100yrs of #FIFAWorldCup first 3 games to feature Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay at HOME🚨 Opening ceremony + rest of event in host nations (all 6 qualify)🚨 2034 in Asian or Oceana confedshttps://t.co/DCeVRYACsQ— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) October 4, 2023
I have to think there will be changes made to the VAR process after this audio clip does the rounds. There is zero professionalism in how that review is conducted. While I understand there is pressure to conduct these reviews quickly, speed seems to be the only concern during this particular review.
Exactly. It's pretty pathetic that after 4(?) years of using VAR in England their communication protocols are so sloppy. p.s. Transparency would've caused this to be fixed years ago. PGMOL really does need some sort of mgmt house-cleaning it seems.
