That’s basically my point. Marsch got us to the conf.finals maybe twice. Struber hasn’t gotten us past the first opponent I think

Nope. They took 3 big points off of Citeh for us. I wanted a draw but shockingly I’ll take a spurs win. Thanks Harry :p

I hope we can win this thing, cause City and everyone else are going to go to the mattresses to fix whatever it is they feel ails them.

So they’re gonna fire Pep and hire Arteta?

Arteta, DiZerbi, Howe, Kompany, Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti, I just rate them all differently according to the needs of their club and their mandate

I like the Eintracht Frankfurt manager as well. Buncha very good managers, but they all can't do the same thing and they are reliant upon a good/great/functional structure at the club. We all saw what happens when a great manager is burdened by too many off the field responsibilities.

It's a team game, even "off the field" one may say ESPECIALLY off the field

When we hired Arteta I told anyone who would listen that he would be a great manager, just not at the Emirates cause i didn't think we had the off the field infrastructure to properly support him. I actually thought he'd end up at PSG or City. Now I don't think he will go, now if we win this year and City come calling who knows.

I've been looking at Chelsea's xG whenever I need a pick-me-up for months.

Not that it doesn’t count, but City racked up huge differentials against Bournemouth et al to begin the season. They’re generally better than us at blowing bad teams out

Just in case your interested, there's 35' left in Arsenal Womens at West Ham. Still 0-0. They're frustrating us big time. I wouldn't bank on us being able to score and get 3pts but that is indeed what we absolutely need to do!

p.s. Plus you may get to spot Paul Konchesky. Remember that old journeyman who played a decade or two in the EPL? He's the Hammers Women's HC now.

Edit: FT 0-0. Failed to break them down. Outshot them 21(9)-2(1) w/ 70% possession. Their keeper was on it, and our shooting was just not clinical enough. Both men's & women's teams are stuttering a bit ATM.

Arteta is more likely to be poached by my beloved Barcelona !!

Arsenal play the kind of football Barca craves ..

Not a bad weekend after all

Same points difference as Citeh with another set of matches played , Newcastle drop points and ManU lost Casemiro for 3 crucial games

Nah I wouldn't worry about it, everyone was happy when that minnow club Everton rolled us, so its ok for us to be happy when that minnow club Spurs rolled City.

I'd imagine they're quite happy with Xavi right now.

Was gonna say, Xavi has Barca 8 points clear on top of the table and a +12GD over Madrid. No way are they giving him the sack while this keeps up.

I'm actually curious how important going back to Spain as a manager might be in terms of his grand plan. To my knowledge, he's never played for Spain at the senior level, or even really at Barcelona, where I think he was part of their academy at some young age.

Basically an outcast during the Spanish national team's dominance on the world stage.

Does he feel he has something to prove back in his home nation, or has his success in what England has offered his career more than made up for any sort of pipe dream?

Any insight into this from anyone?

I just had a look around for any quotes or opinions, Bacary Sagna said he couldn't see Arteta going to Man City but could see him going to Spain or Barca but only after having a long career at Arsenal.

Other than that, its all speculative dross. Especially when looking for links to Barcelona and you see things like "he worked under Pep, and Pep was at Barca."

I think if he went to Spain he would go to a Real Sociedad. But as it stands Arteta has never shown an interest in managing anywhere other than Arsenal.

Where he would go depends a lot on chance IMO. Managers don’t tend to last a lot of years at EPL clubs but also the jobs at big clubs like Barca don’t come up all the time.

You need the moons to align.

They have backed in Arteta big time though and if he wins the league this year, short of a bottom 4 finish I would think he can have the job as long as he wants. No way are we meant to be where we are this season, probably hoped we would be in another 2 years when Saka/Martinelli/Nketiah/Saliba mature.
