Sheffield United is the most boring of the 4 playoff teams so I'm openly rooting against them. Forest - Luton was my dream final, so it's probably going to be United - Huddersfield.
67' is cutting it a little close wouldn't you say? (this assumes they can manage this 1-goal lead and that's not a slam-dunk assumption)
Pool get 3pts at Soton... but JUST barely. Was nervy at the end. And they're limping to the finish of the league. Wonder what they have left for their final match AND the UCL Final.
Did anything really happen in the first period of ET? Typical. PK's seem the most likely outcome? And just as I wrote that, Forest nick the ball go on a break... mishit shot. Then 1 min later another shot... right at GK. Now the SU keeper is down with an injury. So maybe PK's are not fated??
I was dead wrong. Forest-SheffUtd has completely opened up in the final 15' period. Forest goalie just made a game-saving block to keep their hopes alive.
I'm for Forest coming back to the Prem. So the fact that their keeper Samba saved the first 2 PK's is a great development. Almost there...
Lolley skies his chance to put Forest into the Wembley playoff final. But luckily his mate Samba made his 3rd save. Monumental performance by that man. Pitch invasion.
I've never really understood the whole "you're a veteran player who we didn't even trust to play today, but now we trust you to take a penalty kick to win the game" mentality. "Go and run around in the pitch for 2 minutes to loosen up." I'd love to see some stats/results on players inserted in the last 5-10 mins of the game specifically to take a PK.
In Ramsey’s case I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t lack of trust, but lack of fitness. As you can imagine. Another potentially legendary career ruined by injuries, and probably specifically by one injury.
heh. https://theathletic.com/3319307/2022/05/19/tottenham-lasagne-champions-league/ and, while we don't deserve it, having that repeat would be so damn grand, i wouldn't know how to handle it. not just for being in CL+st totteringham but just to REALLY be in their heads.
While it was shit that Shawcross blighted Ramsey's career, he also didn't need to ruin it himself with that insane free agency greed. He was the main man at Arsenal, and allowing for injuries, he still would have played a big role. I guess getting paid was most important - which i can understand.
