If he was hitting his xG/90 dead-on, he'd be having his worst season since becoming a starter. He's currently converting at about half that rate. I'm all for it.
ouch. apparently, evans had surgery/is out until april and vardy is out 8 weeks. leicester is going to crash hard(er).
interesting move by villa/gerrard. it doesn't seem like there was a loan fee with barca being more focused on getting rid of his wage (to be able to register ferran torres) and villa are apparently picking up 240/week of that. they then have an option (not obligation) to buy in summer for 33M. not a 1-to-1 but seems like a good move to replace grealish? maybe?
If they got him cheap, maybe he comes in and helps them sneak into a Europe spot. Maybe he finds his old EPL form and 33m is a bargain if he can do it for 3 years. Or worst comes worst, he gives them a talented player who contributes this season and then they don't activate the purchase option.
Good result for Barca Cuntinho has negative value because his salary is peak elite whereas his performance levels are nowhere near that. If Villa are paying his salary they are idiots.
it's insane to me how much/far everton fell from last season with, largely, the same roster? i know rodriguez was subtracted but i think others are the same (though calvert-lewin has missed significant time)?
WTF was Dubravka doing on the goal Newcastle conceded? I mean, there was zero contact on him and he chose to stay down "hurt" instead of playing his position. Then stayed down during the VAR review and limp about after it was ruled good . . . there are cameras, bruh, that prove you effed up then faked injury. Staying down and feigning a limp aren't gonna change what the camera shows. Glad they lost.
if they didn't have to pay any loan fee (it didn't sound like there was any) and just dropped 240/week to test drive coutinho for 1/2 year with no commitment (like we did with odegaard), that's pretty good. i don't know what his full wage is getting 240 off your wage bill feels like a pretty significant win for barcelona. it feels fairly win-win. barca got to erase 240 off their contract (and make room to register torres) with hope of permanent move for a decent chunk of money. villa gets to test drive coutinho in a league where he excelled for "only" 240/week (with no future commitment) and has a fairly reasonable price set.
Sigurdsson being a pervert hasn't helped their cause either. 8 goals and 10 assists in all comps last year, and they haven't replaced him.
Spuds were on the ropes to would be giant-killer Morecambe until 74' when Winks crossed in an equalizer. Then at 85' took it off a tired dawdling defender's foot and made it 2-1. A few mins later Kane sealed it with a 3rd goal. Oh what could've been...
Ridiculous how the commentators were lauding Winks on the first. It was a freaking cross that the keeper muffed.
Apparently we might be wrong. Just heard Winks’ post match interview and he said he meant it, and either he’s a fantastic salesman or he’s as honest as he says. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
United - Villa, 88th minute, Villa corner. Shaw (on a yellow) looks behind him and whacks Konsa in the face, Konsa gets a nasty bloody nose. No foul, no card, no penalty, VAR says it's fine, play on. What a farce.
