Eriksson collapsed after a throw in during the Denmark/Finland match, and the cameras cut to them giving him cpr.
Cameras have been cut away for a while and there is no commentary. No idea what has happened. Match has been suspended.
Well on mine they were wide shot, no commentary, they cut to who I think was Erikksons wife/gf/family member and the Denmark goal keeper which is ********ing disgusting as she was bawling her eyes out. They stretchered him off, which makes me think they have him stable as they could. But who knows.
I'd been listening via XM. Had there been contact or something before? Did he have health issues coming into this? Devastating.
He took a corner, ball was cleared for a throw in, his team mate was throwing the ball in and he was jogging to him from the corner when he collapsed as the ball hit him in the legs.
ESPN left Derek Rae & Efan Ekoku on air - they were as professional as they could be. It's the choice of camera shots that was most egregious.
I'm numb. Can only fathom what it's like for the fans there, let alone the teammates. Praying he recovers.
Few sources are reporting they restarted his heart on the pitch but that he is awake. One of the Bein sports pundits said they saw he is awake, and there's a photo on twitter while he was being stretchered off where he appears to be awake and conscious.
gottseidank Hearing CPR was successful and Erikson is responsive. Prayers 🙏❣️ The next 24 hours will be critical for Eriksen, but a full recovery isn't out of the question. He can do this.#EURO2020 #Eriksen pic.twitter.com/fP03A41gRd— Lehan Fayaz (@lehanmadridismo) June 12, 2021
Watching that live was something else. It does sound like he will recover. I re-watched Eriksen playing in the 2mins leading up to his fall, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. It must have happened suddenly in that one moment.
If the CPR worked then full praise to the EMTs. Twellman on ESPN saying it was almost 2 minutes between when he collapsed and when he got CPR.
Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET. The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.— UEFA (@UEFA) June 12, 2021
It'll probably be classified as a freak occurrence, but these guys play way too much football. A grueling 9 month season is actually 10 months with preseason. Add in another month long summer tournament. Jesus.
Agreed. And most parents have no idea how little most schools actually offer in scholarships if they actually are offered one. A large D2 or small D1 school typically only covers up to 25% tuition, if that. Dropping $10K+ a year for ~5-10 years for a “scholarship” offer is a poor strategy. I frequently tell parents your best bet for big scholarships is for academics, not athletics. (And put that money into a 529 account instead if your state offers one.)
Agreed, which was yet another reason I was against the Super League and hate these extended summer tours. They're not machines.
Thank you Simon Kjaer! He made sure Eriksen didn’t swallow his tongue, made sure he was in the right position, never turned his back once and comforted Eriksen’s wife. 👏👏#Eriksen #EURO2020 #DENFIN— Sahil Bakshi (@SBakshi13) June 12, 2021
