Did anyone catch the first episode last night? Kind of a fun show. The first band reunited was Berlin. Good to see that Terri Nunn is still hot (and still has the two-tone hairdo).
It was a very enjoyable show. And Terri is still hot. I'll look forward to other shows. Though, the MC could tone it down a bit. I'd like to see him try to get the Sex Pistols back together. He'd probably get beaten up.
The series so far is pretty cool, though also somewhat bittersweet. Granted, the bands chosen for the series hit their stride in the early-mid 80's - a bit before my time, since as I graduated high school at the very end of the decade, my "time" (so to speak) was the mid-late 80's - but it was still weird watching their old videos and how much they've aged by the time of their reunions and their one-night-only reunion performances.       It's strange how 80's music and fashions, once reviled and ridiculed by the generation that immediately followed (early-mid 90's youth) are now being embraced by many of today's youth, just as the early-mid 90's youth embraced the 70's music and fashions.       Damn, I'm old! -G
Watching The Flock Of Seagulls, what a cool show. Great to see the mom get excited about the reunion. So cool to see the younger generation enjoy the old New Wave stuff. Wish I had seen Berlin. Romeo Void's lead singer is a giant pig. Giant!
You are right, it is a shame, but she's still pretty huge. She was pretty huge back then too though. Can't say I was a big Romeo Void fan, the one hit wonders for me.
In contrast to Terri Nunn of Berlin, who (as was mentioned already in this thread) looks to be in really good shape for her age (she'll be 43 later this year)!       The onstage reunion performances of each group highlighted so far (Berlin, Romeovoid, and A Flock of Seagulls) has benefited from the fact that at least one bandmember has continued performing even after the group split up.       It'll be weird to see if one of the upcoming groups (there are seven episodes left) have bandmembers who all stopped playing after they split up... -G
Last night's episode confused me about the finances of A Flock of Seagulls. How did the the Score brothers come out of the band with so little money that one of them works in quality control for a plastics factory and the other guy has to continue to tour under the name A Flock of Seagulls (new line-up of musicians) playing small clubs/bars across the US while the bass player had enough money to buy a chateau in France? It doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe the bass player saved his money and invested well while the other guys blew their nest egg. How much money could A Flock of Seagulls have pocketed during their brief success? Murf
I've found the idea of the show intriguing, but haven't watched out of being busy with other things. Any idea if The Motels are on the list of bands to be reunited? Or if anyone has a list of the bands in the upcoming episodes? I'm too lazy to search out VH-1's site.
OK I searched it. No Motels, too bad. The list for anyone interested: A Flock of Seagulls Berlin Frankie Goes to Hollywood Dramarama Extreme Klymaxx Kajagoogoo Romeo Void Squeeze The Alarm The link too: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/bands_reunited/episode_list.jhtml
I used to manage an apartment complex in New Orleans- East, and the lead guitarist of the Alarm, Dave Sharp (used his real name at the complex) rented a flat from us. Great guy, but I figured he could have lived in a much better place than we had.
In short.....No. Still alive. He unilaterally decided that they would not play in their episode though. In the last two episodes you can just see the animosity between some of the members. It burns. Good quality TV.
Terri Nunn looks hot. She looks better now than she did 20 years ago. Maybe its that I'm older, but damn she looked good. Berllin was a fun show to watch, seem like they were all pretty cool. My 14 year old son is enjoying watching the series himself "Dad I'm glad you played New Wave music". Apparently New Wave is making a comeback in the high schools.
It turns out that the new wave of episodes began today and will continue for the rest of this week. This week's featured bands are: Haircut 100 New Kids on the Block ABC The English Beat The Motels -G
And in case you missed today's episode (featuring "Haircut 100"), they'll repeat it again tonight at 10pm PT and tomorrow morning at 2am PT. -G
Me, too. Those guys kicked ass in concert. I've heard that Difford and Tillbrook are good as solos, but I've never seen either one.
I saw "Dave Wakeling's English Beat" a couple of years ago and they were great. It was Dave with a new lineup, but still great. I plan to tune into this one for sure.
