Very interesting. I must admit, I didn't see this move coming, but at the same time, it's not a shock. We need to get the back sorted and someone was going to have to move somewhere, either to the bench or a transfer.
That last touch was just a bit heavy. Got away from him. Definitely should have done better. He's kicking himself in the butt for that one. But overall, we're dead even with them (not statistically, but whatever), which I kind of expected. It's a good sign considering how shaky we've been on the road. I want these three points, though. Damn. Freiburg is up 1-0 on Heidenheim at the half, so we need to keep pace. And you never know, Gladbach could do us a solid this afternoon and open the door to us closing the gap with Frankfurt. I'm not holding out too much hope for St. Pauli versus Red Bull tomorrow, but you never know there, either. Leipzig can be a little ... strange, sometimes.
What a save by Nübel. And then Hendricks gave it up and got a boot in the face on the clearance. I'm loving this. We mean business today.
And that's it. Excellent effort, excellent result. BVB completely cracked and lost their composure, a very good sign we could get to them like that on their home ground.
I love it when the big boys get the business from guys like us. I'm pretty sick of the money some of them are throwing around. I'll never knock a guy for making a buck, and athletic careers are short, so you must make it when you can. I get it. But I can barely watch the Prem any longer. It's like the NBA. Half of the game, the announcers are talking about who's going to move where and get the next big contract rather than the action on the pitch. Sick of it.
0-0 at halftime in a hard fought, defensive battle (at least so far) versus Wolfsburg today. We've had a couple opportunities to mount a threat but just couldn't seem to connect all the wires. I'm getting highly amused at Wimmer's whining every time he gets dumped. I'm calling him Winselnder Wimmer from now on. Amoura has been a threat a couple times. Very pacey. On the other side, the double pivot of Stiller and Karazor has been working well. We're just missing that little extra bit of spice.
Woltemade and Diehl on for Undav and Führich at 71', and instant dividends! Fabulous goal from Nick, just weaving his way through for a lovely strike. 1-0 to the Good Guys.
Oh bloody hell. Another defensive brain fart, and Wolfsburg cashes in their first shot on goal to draw level. We have it all to do now again.
Down to defeat 2-1, victims of a Wolfsburg smash-and-grab. No excuses on this one. We had the lead and were in control of the match up to that point of the second half and then just folded. Very, very frustrating loss.
I missed this match. Went ice fishing with some Chinese friends, and we caught fish so it was more productive than watching a loss.
It was a bad one. We looked like we had broken through after dominating in the second half, and then just crumbled. Total loss of concentration and focus. Not a good day.
Well, it was bound to begin. Real Madrid are casting their greedy, covetous eyes on Angelo Stiller for next season. And so is Farcelona, of course. Why develop players when you can negotiate hard for those from elsewhere. Hopefully his name will get lost in the long list that they draw up every transfer season. https://www.football-espana.net/2025/03/21/real-madrid-midfield-stiller
Gawd, I hate getting poached. Not only us, but our league. Grrr. Anyway, really interesting XI today. Deniz and Nick both on the bench. Looks like the plan is to beat on them with Ermedin and The Bouncer (which is a great name for a band, by the way).
El-Dakhil and Jeltsch starting in defense? Perhaps the mgmt has started looking towards next season already. This one is basically done, no relegation and no Euro qualification. Great looking stadium and packed to the rafters!
