Please, please, please be back for Augsburg, Deniz. And my goodness, what a schedule. Six matches in 18 days in January, including Red Bull, Freiburg and Mainz, and then five matches in February. It's crunch time.
English Week or English Weak? Let's see if VfB can redeem this weekend for me. My other clubs played like cr@p.
I know the feeling. Arsenal stunk it out in the first half against United today in the FA Cup, although it's 1-1 now after showering up. I'm switching to our game anyway. Bundesliga over the Prem any day.
That's the issue in England, TWO domestic cup competitions instead of just one. FA Cup and League Cup, is it? 0-0 at the half.
Well, we've let Augsburg back into this one. But we're not playing badly by any means. I am getting a little concerned about Demirovic, though. He ended the Hinrunde in a slump other than Werder Bremen (and it's worth noting, he scored two goals on two shots there). Now he's flailing a bit. We need him to find his shooting boots.
Yeah, there are two: the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. And then there's a Community Shield match between the FA Cup winner and the Premier League champion to start the following Prem campaign. It sure looks like overkill, but with all that money sloshing around, you gotta make it somewhere, I guess.
I just worry that players will be injured by overuse. We see that all the time around Olympics/WC after seasons, then they start up again full throttle the next season. Add in the various NT tourneys (GC, NL), I think it's too much unless they really increase the size of squads and the # of substitutes.
He was listed as having a muscle injury in November 2024, but I haven't seen anything since. I'll take a look.
Good. They were able to seal the deal, and kept a clean sheet in the process. THAT'S what we needed. Let's have some more of that, defense, and a little more scoring action, offense!
Put it in the books, as they say. The broadcast team isn't all that impressed with us today, but that was a gritty win from a squad which is still less than 100 percent. As we get healthy, we'll get our chance to make a run at Europe. Just need to keep to the grindstone. I'll say this, though: I like Woltemade and Undav together better than Demirovic and Undav. It's a better contrast. Ermedin and Deniz are too much alike.
Big one. Only six points separate Frankfurt in third and Gladbach in 11th, and we're right in the middle now in seventh. This is going to be a blast.
VfB Stuttgart - RB Leipzig I can only watch the first 20' of this live then I have to switch over to a different match which must be watched live as there is no replay option. I will finish this match later on ESPN+ which has replay.
VfB fail to clear and RB score first on 10', 0-1. Actually, Winoman, this is the final match of the Hinrunde (first half of the season). You started this second half thread too soon. A YELLOW card for that offense; careful, you wouldn't want to get RED carded!
I like what I've seen from both today, although overall we're lacking cohesion. We're sputtering, struggling to get all the cylinders firing in the proper sequence. So, maybe it hasn't been the greatest opportunity to really get a handle on them, at least so far. Bruun Larsen clearly comes to play, though. Very energetic. Al Dakhil is as advertised: a talent who just needs seasoning.
Back in business. Bruun Larsen with the sweet header from distance on a clever, deceptive run. Deniz for the assist on a beautiful ball in. That's more like it. [EDIT: Forgot you were going to watch on replay, @Teak. I'll hold off commenting further until after you've had a chance to watch.]
No worries. I am checking in periodically. Nice to see the fight back and TWO red cards for Red Bull? Maybe they should be called "Red Card Leipzig".
