Heidenheim's #10 (Wanner) sure puts in a lot of yellow card worthy tackles. Should have been sent off by now.

They dance on the line quite a bit as a squad. But he's especially egregious.

We're into the tactical subs now. I like Rieder and Hendriks coming on.

Damn, that was close. They unlocked us much too easily.

85' Woltemade scores a PK, 1-3. Heidenheim got so used to getting away with tackles outside the box that they forgot that tackling inside the box is dangerous.

Good pen by Woltemade, but that was a little soft. I'll take it, and it probably was a pen by the laws. But just a weeeee bit soft.

LOL They've been so chippy all match long. It's how they play. Credit for being scrappy, but it bit them in the keisters there.

Well, Heidenheim have been in a poor run of form, but that doesn't take away this hard fought away win. Good for VfB! They are coming into good form and bench players like Woltemade are contributing.

We're going to see more of Woltemade going forward, I'm sure. He's so tall and thin, he can look a little funny out there. But he's very efficient.

Good win today against a side relying on the Dark Arts. We're still in a good position, despite all the challenges. I'm proud of our guys. A good run after the calendar turns and we might surprise ourselves.

VfB hosting the St. Pauli Girl in Stuttgart, right now!

Keitel getting a start instead of Karazor, pairing with Stiller in CM.

21' Against the general run of play, St. Pauli score first, 0-1.

"Stuttgart frustration," indeed. There is no flow or rhythm to our attack at all.

Credit to St. Pauli for their defending, but we need to do much, much better with the ball or we're going to squander points here.

Bad move by Chase, he needn't have been so strong in that challenge. St. Pauli PK.

Seeing the replay, it was outside the box and after ball was long gone. But PK saved by Nubel so a wash.

Chase was a little strong, but I thought Afolayan played it up quite a bit. It was more a collision than a foul to me.

But no matter, Nübel came up big.

We're in better shape this half, but we still can't seem to throw them off balance. Demirovic got loose at one point but couldn't get away and pulled it back, and we fizzled. It's been that way all match.

All we have for pace on the bench is Jarzinho Malanga, too. I'm sure we'll see him before too long.

Nope, Rieder for Vagnoman. Good sub, but I would have liked to see Malanga for Demirovic at the same time.

Good call, but the substitution was made a bit late, eh? Less than 2 minutes in regular time.

Every cross into the box is met by a St. Pauli defensive header. They are closing VfB down quite well.

Malanga at 89'. I think that's much too late. I would have liked to see him at 70' or so. We needed pace to pull them out of shape. Instead, we've been mostly standing on the ball and cycling it around the perimeter and then dumping crosses in.

    Not terribly effective bunker-busting.

VfB 0-1 St. Pauli in full time.

Well, we deserved that. Got outplayed. Back later, time for me to do some snow clearance.

Big big letdown at home against a lower level club that will be in the relegation fight.
