Does anyone have any insight into why there is an "acclimatation" period for women's programs that allow them to start earlier than normal and not the men? Seems like something that should've been uniform? Were the men so wrapped up in the year round model that this legislation just went unnoticed?
University of Montreal tied Washington 1-1. Always wondered how some Canadian teams stacked up against the top NCAA teams. women start a week earlier and finish a week earlier. Is this different in 2026 than in previous years?
Based on social media posts some women have been on campuses since around July 16th. As far as I know, men don't (officially) start until next week. Again this has to do with the women's programs having an acclimatization period which extends their preseason. As far as I know, the men don't have that
I have noticed that there are quite a few D1 rosters that have more than 28 players listed on their roster (as of this week), and the guys are back on campus for training/captains practice, etc. I know that there are exceptions to the cap (i.e Ivy League can have more that 28 since they did not opt-in to the settlement), but there seems to be a few programs with 4-6 over the 28 as of today that are at at opt-IN schools. Does this mean they will have "cuts" prior to the regular season starting? Does anyone have any experience with how transparent coaches are ahead of time to the players about this possibility? Just seems like an awful situation to be in just before school / season starts. Not just fighting for playing time, but possible removal from the website all together.
