Maybe it would help to list our availability for this draft.

Perhaps it would be helpful if managers listed when they are most available, and least (or not) available to participate in this draft.

    For me:

Available for active participation from 6 PM - Midnight or even as late as 2 AM EST.

    Not available between 2-6AM EST

    Available perhaps 6-8 AM EST

Not available 8-9 EST (commute to work)

Partially available (at least once per hour) from 9 AM - 5 PM EST.

Not available 5-6 PM EST (commute home)

Available on Saturday from 8 AM - 7 PM

If folks wanted to PM me their phone # with a list of block-out hours, I could call you when you are on the clock and let it ring twice and hang up.

Anything to get this draft moving along. I am not willing to take 4-5 days to complete this thing. The delays in this draft remind me of why I don't like to play Postal Chess.

Anyone else with some constructive suggestions to get this draft done?

Can I make a suggestion regarding this thread? Let's assume that if someone is aware that it is his turn, then he will make the move. So let's not post too many, "Hey, it's your turn" posts here. A short PM or email to the person saying simply, "You're up" will work better anyway. In fact, the whole complaining about slowness will get old pretty quick. People have lots of things going on, and this is NOT a "live" draft. It is "designed" to take 4-5 days. My guess is that over the weekend, the rounds will zip by quicker, and you guys will finish on Sat night or Sunday sometime. Hal will be making my picks for me based on a sheet I give him, so that is one less body to worry about. Anyway, that'll still give everyone a couple days before Opening Day to set rosters and make last minute trades.

    I am available 6-6:30am PST

7:30am-5:00pm PST (once an hour or so)

6:00-10:00 PST (once an hour..maybe less if there are 14 picks ahead of me)

    10:00 PST-12:00 PST (possible...if turn is close)

    12:00-6:00am PST (MUCH needed sleep)

We still have to be under the £100 million mark in this league..correct?

Where is the league I'm to join?

    Michael

    off to bed...9:22pm PST

    Not My Pick Yet

Nice to see those online are moaning already..... I know how you feel......

I made my pick at 6.46pm my time and stayed online for another 6 hours watching and waiting.....

I then had 5 hours sleep and almost got excited to wake up and see things were moving but stalled at Clanblue...... which means I can't pick yet.....

I'll be online again in 12 hours from now but have sent a PM to Hal...... who comes after me..... for my Round 2 pick.

Timing -- Look at the time of this post to work things out in your time zone.

In 12 hours time my Round 3 pick should be online and I'll be online another 6 hours...

I'll then sleep 5 hours and be back online at about this time Friday morning (6am in Europe).

I will spend the next three days almost permanently online.... heaven help me.

    a bit confused

OK, maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but could we perhaps post a round-by-round draft order in this thread so we can always know when our pick is coming up? I was thrilled to see that I got the first pick but I haven't seen my name come up in any discussion of the second round, and to be honest I have no idea when I pick.

And please, folks, be patient with us overseas members... I only have internet available at work, so I have to sneak these picks in between classes, and I'm offline for the day at no later than 1:00 PM in the eastern US. There's nothing I can do about this... so the draft might take longer but it's better it take longer and be done right and fairly than be rushed and unjust.

    Draft Order

    Odd rounds 1,3,5,...,15

    1 Ingromius (1-1 Van Nistelrooy)
    2 KopteinKC (1-2 Henry)
    3 Hal (1-3 Wiltord)
    4 1800-World Cup (1-4 Bowyer)
    5 Clanblue (1-5 Gudjohnsen)
    6 DoctorJones24 (1-6 Hasselbaink)
    7 Captain Splarg (1-7 Owen)
8 Outback Maverick (1-8 Lua Lua)

    Even rounds 2,4,6,...14

    1 Outback Maverick (2-1 Duff)
    2 Captain Splarg (2-2 Anelka)
    3 DoctorJones24 (2-3 Robert)
    4 Clanblue (2-4 ...................
    5 1800-WorldCup
    6 Hal
    7 KopiteinKC
    8 Ingromius

Currently we are holding at Round 2 Pick 4, Clanblue.

1800-WorldCup has PM'ed me his next pick so he won't be holding up the show. As soon as Clanblue makes his 2nd round pick, the draft will continue.

I appreciate your access dilemma, Ingromius. Perhaps, you can avail yourself of my offer to be a surrogate drafter. email me your draft sequence (which position you want to draft each round) and your draft priority lists by position.

Or, as you have a couple of drafts coming up, last of Round 2 and first of Round 3, PM me your wish list for those two picks. If your turn comes up after 1 PM EST today when you are no longer available, I can make those picks for you so as to not waste another day.

Well I will be online all day today from now until 5pm Central time.

Then at home tonight from 6pm to 10:30pm

Tomorrow I will offline most of the day as I have two of my kids first games of the season to worry about. But I will check the boards from time to time, late afternoon and evening tomorrow and all Sunday I should be close to the computer.

    Mav,

I reread Michel's post that he made at 12:24 AM.

He sent me his second round pick and said he would be off for 12 hours then back on for 6. I take that to mean this is his on-time, up until about 6 PM EST.

I'll check my PM's, but I do not have his next pick. I would expect Michel will send me a short wish list for his next pick or two when he heads to bed again.

Would all the managers identify a time on Saturday when we can try to finish this draft?

If we start no later than 10 AM EDT, that should be:

    7 AM PDT

    2 or 3 PM GMT

    ??? Australian time.

I leave on a 3 week business trip on Sunday morning. I really want to conclude this draft on Saturday if at all possible.

Otherwise, I'll have to forward the draft instructions I've received from others to someone else who'll be available. I'll also have to create my own draft guidance to send to as yet undetermined volunteer to be a surrogate drafter.

    Clanblue,

If you are going to be off until 2 PM tomorrow, perhap you can send me more than just a couple of rounds of picks.

So far, all my surrogate picks have been the top requests by the manager. I can't promise that in the future, but so far, we seem to have a diverse drafting strategy in this group where managers are putting together their teams according to their master plan - at least for the first few rounds.

    Hal
