Vermont job Finalists

    BURLINGTON, Vt. – Four finalists for the women’s soccer head coaching position at the University of Vermont were announced today by Dr. Robert Corran, director of athletics.

    Candidates for the position will be interviewed in the coming weeks, and Corran expects the announcement of the new coach will be made by late February. The finalists for the position are:

    • David Bucciero (B00CH-e-air-oh), a 1995 graduate of the James Madison University. Bucciero is an assistant coach at Boston University and has also served as an assistant coach at Washington College, Texas Tech and for the Boston Renegades professional team. Bucciero is also involved in the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program. He has been at Boston University since 2001, and holds a Master’s Degree in History from Washington College.

    • Heather Cairns (CARE-inns), a 1994 graduate of Canisius College. Cairns, in her first year as head coach at Utah State, led the team to a 10-7-2 record, the most wins in school history. Before 2003, she was an assistant coach at Creighton, the University of New Mexico and St. Ambrose University. She has also been involved with the Olympic Development Program in Utah, Nebraska, New Mexico and Iowa.

    • Kerry Dziczkaniec (DISS-conn-iss), a 1993 graduate of George Washington University. Dziczkaniec has been an assistant coach at the University of Maryland for five years, and also served as interim head coach and assistant coach at Florida State and Virginia. Active in the Olympic Development Program in Florida, Virginia and Maryland, Dziczkaniec played professionally for two years after graduating from George Washington.

    • Zac Shaw, a 1992 graduate of Ithaca College. Shaw is an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin, and also has coached at Penn State, Ithaca College and Nazareth College. He has also served as an assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer for two teams in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA). A 1998 inductee into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame, Shaw played professionally in Belgium and in the U.S. after graduating from Ithaca.

    That is different that they announce the finalists. That has to be a bit uncomfortable for the Utah State coach I would think. Especially at recruiting time.
