Vermont Brewers Festival. July 16 & 17 July 16 & 17, 2004 Waterfront Park, Burlington VT RAIN OR SHINE! I know where I'll be this weekend.
Dude, I envy you. There are few places as cool to hang out, wander around, and drink a brew than Burlington. Let us know how it went. Catamount, Long Trail, and Magic Hat are fantastic.
That was a lot of fun, sampled a dozen or so beers during the evening session. Standouts were: My favourite of the festival Harpoon UFO The beers of Moat Mountain Smoke House & Brewing Co. The Alchemist Pub & Brewery- Waterbury, VT (couldn't find a website for them) One of my favourite beers Long Trail IPA http://www.magichat.net/ If you're ever in Burlington, VT be sure to visit their brewery and pick up a growler or two of fresh beer on your way home. Other notables The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery Three Needs Brewery & Taproom Concord Brewery Portsmouth Brewery & Pub For fans of hard cider Woodchuck Cider was present, as well as Cider Jack Vermont ain't flat
I'm a big fan of Longtrail myself. I'll have to ask some of my relatives from up there if they enjoyed the festivities.
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH Woodchuck The stuff of legend. I could drink that for years and never get tired of it.
I live about 10 minutes from this place and go there occasionally for dinner. It's a good place. The food is comfort food but with a little pizazz (pesto on the burgers for example) and the beer is very good. Plus, it's a cool space that is somehow hip yet kid friendly. Big bar too. If anyone is skiing/traveling to Stowe or Sugarbush, The Alchemist would be about 15-30 minutes away. Plus, it is close to Exit 10 off I-89 for anyone passing through. So, it would be a good stop. By the way, another great VT brewery is Rock Art Brewery in Johnson (north of Stowe). Their White Tail Ale and Maple Wheat are my two favorites. Murf
I would have to agree with you about the food, I'm a long way from being an epicurean but even I noticed it was a little pedestrian. The beer was very good, particularly the Holy Cow IPA. I could have done without the kids in the place. So which one of you was sporting the Liverpool jersey at the festival?
