But they still will pay top dollar. Didn't you see how much they were marking up the Gold Cup Final tickets on StubHub, and yet the fans were still buying them.
Kind of drives home the point that our lame "broke" college students are not really hardcore if the Mexican fans had no problem with the ticket price point.
Money in the bank then. I know the goal is to win the World Cup, but we should be able to beat them in any stadium in America before that happens.
Ok, just to clarify, are you suggesting that Mexican fans wouldn't be able to go to the game if the prices were high? Those prices would be more likely to keep out Americans- who don't support the USMNT to the same level as Mexicans who support their national team- than Mexicans. Also, are you suggesting that if the Mexicans can somehow afford to pay more for tickets, that it's ok because then we'll make money? We play Spain and all these other teams in big stadiums to do one thing- make money. The only thing we should be concerned about with World Cup Qualifiers should be to put the USMNT in a position to win every home match. Mexicans would probably still sign up for this and pay for 3 games just to get tickets to the USA/Mexico game. How many Americans would be willing to sign up for 3-game packages? I went to 2 World Cup Qualifiers last cycle (Columbus and Chicago), but 3 would be pretty tough.
The goal of World Cup Qualifiers is to QUALIFY for the World Cup. Why would you ever jeopardize that just to make some more money for the Federation? What would the Federation do with all that money if we didn't qualify? Lot of good that would do us.
I refuse to follow that mindset that we would "jeopardize" our World Cup chances by playing Mexico in a larger stadium than that one in Columbus.
You really think the US lost cause of the crowd? How bout in Phoenix and Chicago in 2007 when it was the same situation and the US won. When the US is better than Mexico, they will win like they did in 2007.
