That's taking what I said out of context...you habe to have Italian blood, however that is not enough. You see to prove that you feel Italian, that your culture is Italian, that your dream is to play for the Azzurri. Having Italian blood is not enough.
so "italian blood" is actual ethnic Italian or can anyone born in Italy be classified as this? that's all I was saying before.
Did you know Mario Balotelli even though he was born in Palermo , grew up and went to school in Italy was not considered Italian by law until his 18th birthday? He couldn't compete in the 2008 Olympics because he wasn't yet an Italian citizen. I think he missed the cut off by 3/4 weeks...
Does that mean you'll shut down those ridiculous line ups you post or that ridiculous advice and predictions you give others....how old are you again? You're in no position to tell others " guys just stop " with a conversation they are having....So far I count at least 5 different people talking about Oriundi. If you have nothing to add that's fine but to come into the topic all sanctimoniously telling other to stop is mighty bold for a teenager with barely any hair on his face....so I repeat....shut up
He moved back to Italy at 5 years of age as his parents owned a restaurant. Not sure if he really counts.
Well the fact is they are starting to go way off topic, and it's going on over and over again. Why not start a new thread for that?
Half Italian Blood: Stephan El Shaarawy (Egyptian dad, Italian mother, born in Italy) Riccardo Montolivo (Italian dad, German mom, born in italy) Gianluca Lapadula (Italian Dad, peruvian mom, born in italy) Italian blood born outside italy: Roberto Soriano (Germany) Nicola Sansone (Germany)
I've been on a 2006 binge today, even watched the whole semi between Germany. What a world of difference, such swagger, determination, accuracy and organization. I was in awe at how world class we were, completely dominated every game, everyone was hungry, we had no players in their mid 30's on the field, we didn't play the stupid long ball over and over, always pressing, no continuous back passing to Buffon, just in total wow the whole time. What in the hell happened?
Calciopoli happened which dealt a huge blow to the strength and money of Serie A while many top world class talents starting to leave Serie A...Couple this with the fact Serie A , and other leagues too , have more foreigners than ever before and it's not hard to see. This foreigner dilemma has been an escalating problem since the early 2000's After 2006 Spain still developed their youth properly and still has plenty of Spanish in La Liga to call from. Germany also did a complete overhaul which led them to at least the semis of every WC since 2002 and every Euro semi ( except for 2016 ) since 2008. Germany also has a system and develops youth in a linear and efficient way. Italy needs an overhaul....Italy needs to start focusing more on their youth products and have patience because there is still plenty of Italian talent to be utilized and developed . Also Serie A mid table clubs especially need to stop with this fixation that certain South Americans or African players are better than their Italian counterparts when most of the time it's evident it's the opposite really..... That's what happened
Yeah at one time there were like five #10's , like Mancini, Zola, Baggio , Delpiero and then Cassano and now Italy can't even muster up one.
I remembered him after I already posted but at 5:45 AM on the west coast, I fell back asleep and couldn't edit...
I’m thinking a younger and healthy Roberto Baggio who was a true #10, could help and play in any formation.
One thing I admire about Italy is the majority of your players are actual Italians. Hope you guys keep it that way.
