http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=142093&cpid=9&title=Van+der+Gun+to+return+to+Ajax i say this is great news - hes had a strong season with W-II and he can be another forward option - however, it will be interesting to see who may go (VDV-probably not, chivu-beginning to look like he MIGHT choose to come back, VDM-beginning to look like he may go to inter, pienaar-probably not just yet, zlatan- hard to say, one day one thing, another another...BUT we will be in the CL next year and roma wont make europe, so...., trabelsi- see pienaar) and who may arrive (allback- not a half bad idea, denneboom- see allback, kanu- a GREAT idea) - no tellin' where VDG might fit in, but nevertheless happy to know hes coming back
I thought van der Gunn was a midfielder? Is there news on vd Meyde going to Inter? I took some heat for saying that a few months ago.
i think vd gun is a a-mid and a forward. anyway didnt vd vaart sign a contract that makes him stay will the end of next season? and wasn't vd meyde the one who was most likely to return to ajax when all the talk of who is leaving came up? imo everyone you listed will be back for one more season except maybe for chivu. and when you said kanu is an option, u mean the one from arsenal right? not c. kanu the defender? i know arsenal is going to try getting rid of him but wont it be for A LOT of money?
first, yes VDM is an attack mid, but a very versatile one - IIRC he can play LW, CM or forward in a 3-man front and yes i meant kanu the arsenal ex-ajacied attacker - a few scenarios could lead to such a deal 1- part of a chivu deal 2- part of a trabelsi deal 3- straight transfer the first scenario seems more likely than a real or milan move at this point - the second is very unlikely (i hope) - the third is my preferred outcome and arsenal are willing to offload him, perhaps at a bargain rate - most transfers fees have come down quite a bit - if kluivert is carrying an 8-9 million euro pricetag (which has been reported for a while), kanu would probably cost half that or less and as for VDM, inter are tiring with conceicao and a couple other wing types, so their interest in andy will likely intensify and i think i saw some quotes suggesting that some nig oney will be spent this summer
¿Why should Ajax take Kanu? The guy's over the top, no reason to get him to Amsterdam at this point. Even Alback would be a better choice.
nah, from either Dutch.net or one of the other sites. Some guys raped me for saying VD Meyde was looking to go. Everyone at Ajax is looking to go, everyone in the Netherlands is looking to leave as well. Nature of the league.
are we talking about VD Gunn or Meyde in the top paragraph? I wouldn't sign Kanu...yesterday's news. Soon to be heading to MLS (according to my sources he wants to come over in 2 years).
do you guys really consider Kanu to be that worthless at this point in his career? he has health issues, but he is young and IF he was cheap enough why not get him? Arsenal has made it clear they are going to offload some talent, they are even considering Viera and Pires, so why not someone who is waisting his time on the bench?
He's 27 years old this August, so he still has a few years left. He would be a good addition to Ajax, but only if they get him cheap. The guy I spoke to said that Kanu wants to play in MLS in a couple of years, that sounds like 29 to me. Would be great for the league to get a player of his caliber. I'm sure Ajax has a player in the wings waiting for any holes that open up in the lineup already.
Kanu will be a good fit in Columbus since Buddle will be headed to Europe in a couple years. Kanu had his surgery in Cleveland so maybe there's some connection for him there in Ohio..
if it makes any1 feel better, in my 1st year of Championship manager, vdg was my leading scoring playing in central midfield, could be a sign.
