I hesitate to keep running the “GOAT” pun into the ground (I don’t), but how about:

GOATed: Richard “Richie” Ledezma at CD Guadalajara

Is it wrong to use Cabron in the title? :)

    such an odd decision

I suppose PSV refused to let him play further up the field and he doesnt see himself as a defender...and perhaps other moves in europe were all there for him to continue as a defender. and he knows he is a better midfielder than defender and wants to continue

but this likely seals his fate as never playing for usmnt and likley never playing again in europe....its a shame

Scored in a 5-0 friendly win:

    Chivas lineup

Raúl Rangel, Richard Ledezma (Santiago Sandoval at 70'), Daniel Aguirre (Luis Olivas at 78'), Luis Romo (Gilberto Sepúlveda at 78'), José Castillo (Diego Campillo at 78'), Omar Govea (Rubén González at 78'), Erick Gutiérrez (Efraín Álvarez at 78'), Roberto Alvarado (Alan Mozo at 70'), Hugo Camberos (Bryan González at 63'), Cade Cowell (Armando González at 70'), Alan Pulido (Teun Wilke at 70').

0-1: After much insistence, Guadalajara opened the scoring at 54' through Richard Ledezma, who crowned his great game after an extraordinary combination down the left flank, which ended with a loose ball in the area and without thinking, he took an unstoppable right-footed shot.

Chivas thrashes the Champion of the Expansion and concludes its Preseason undefeated

There's definitely a lot to get about this move. This is a pretty uncommon highlight package, at field level, and he looks very good. The first 3 minutes are basically all him (#37). If he balls the f out there are ample opportunities available to him, including back to Europe.

As it stands, he'll be at the heart of one of the biggest teams in Mexico, playing in front of packed stadiums, all while carving a few million USD out of the local economy and living in a very beautiful, sunny, familiar part of the world.

This is a very interesting Chivas team from a usmnt fan perspective, with Cade and Alvarez there as well as a few others. Chusas!

Ledezma with the start again. Big impact on the first goal - attacked a cross coming in from wide, connecting on a diving header. Keeper saved it, but Sanabria, who had gone to ground chasing Ledezma, unfortunately deflects it into his own net. Pulled after 54 minutes.

I was at the game last night as RBNY defeated Chivas 1-0 in NJ. Entertaining game with Chivas having a lot of supporters (which made it more intense in the stadium) but Forsberg won it with a stoppage time free kick at the death.

Ledezma started and played 65 minutes in the midfield.

He was okay. He hit some nice passes in possession, but overall nothing great. Some of the RBNY midfielders were better than him in this game - such as Peter Stroud, who hasn't been the same since his serious ankle injury early last season. Before that, I thought Stroud was going places. Hopefully he starts improving.

Great goal by Ledezma - lefty hit off a bouncing ball at the top of the box, driven inside far post. Made it 1-1.

Very similar to the goal that his former teammate and pal, Dest, scored for PSV this weekend.

Watching this game…goal aside…. Richie was decent. I cannot help but think this current Chivas squad is a whole lot of meh. Not great quality. Man… I would have loved to see him still in Europe not with this version of Chivas where they are mediocre at best.

Subbed out in just the 2nd minute tonight in a game against Tijuana.

Hope it is not serious. He's been playing well for them.

Dude is now tied for 4th in LigaMX this season in assists, and 3rd in A/90. I didn't love seeing him leave Europe, but I'm loving that he's actually playing his natural position again. He's a dynamic attacking midfielder and if he puts up big numbers in LigaMX this season, is there any reason he shouldn't be in the mix for the midfield pool?

That would put him in the same production ballpark as Diego Luna. And lord knows he's playing more than Gio Reyna right now.
