Varela scored one of the most beautiful goals of this year against Barcelona...some say it is the best goal in many years, even better than that of Maradona in the WC and Ronaldo with Barca against Compostela...
I personally do not agree but what do u think??!!

of course it was more beautiful than Maradonas and Ronaldos goals for three reasons:

    1. It was scored by a Betico
    2. It was scored against Barcelona
    3. It was the goal that put the nail in the coffin

    Lol.

Reporters saying it was better than Maradona's are dreaming.

The smoothness of Maradona's goal was amazing and so slick, the best ever individual goal.

Betis scored a great goal, but let's not lose our sense of reality.

But that only shows me that the goal might have been more important than the other two, not more beautiful....and granted it is more important than Ronaldos goal vs. Compostela, ut would be nonsense to say that it was more important than Maradonas goal in the WC...

Hey when you are a Betis supporter and you beat Barcelona every X years you have to enjoy those moments to the max!

It was a great goal, now if we can beat that other team from Sevilla on Sunday and maybe score another goal or two against Madrid on Tuesday and finish them off, it would be a great way to cap off the last 10 days!

It was a great goal, but to comparisons to Maradona's vs. England are way off. World Cup quarterfinals, it doesn't get much bigger than that, and this in the same game as the Hand of God goal.

I think comparisons to Ronaldo's goal vs. Compostela are favorable. Similar distance, but Varela beat more players, I think. Varela's finish was better for sure.

Certainly, one of the goals of the year, regardless of how many other great goals are scored. It was a gem!

Well if you take away the circumstances and just look at the goals I think Ronaldo's goal was the best. It had grace, power, and speed. It wasn't like Varela's goal or Maradona's in that they just waltzed through the defense with nobody even attempting to foul or any physical play. If you watch Ronaldo's goal you see players tugging his shirt and generally trying to mug him. That said, all three were fantastic. If you add in the circumstances then it's no contest, Maradona's goal was the best.

George Weah's goal was as good as these too.

This time I have to agree with Pichi. Anytime Barcelona look bad it's a good thing, even if it is a Betis player that does it. :D
