According to the NY Times this morning Greg Vanney is unhappy at Bastia and is seeking a transfer.Any thoughts on where he could go?I think he should head home and try to hook up with either KC,United,or Colorado.
Hmm, they must have realised what most Americans can't. Vanney is absolute rubbish with a powerful left foot. Nothing more.
He also helped them out a lot last year and was a very good starter from the games I saw on FSW. He contributed a lot to the team. Particularly because of his very good left foot. Then this season rolls around, (new coach too I think) and poof he is gone. I think he might come back to MLS. But i think he might just stay in Europe if he can find a spot. Maybe Cottbus with Berhalter. I hope this isn't the beginning of another Yank who goes roaming around from month to month or year to year seeking work.
Now that's hardly fair. Vanney never really was a USMNT regular... Frankly, Reading with MH would be a nice landing spot, if he has a euro passport. If not, I hear St. Gallen is looking for a defender or two.
Sheesh, give up 11 goals against a near semi-pro side and everyone thinks the house's on fire... Well, I guess it was a big enough deal to sack the coach... http://www.soccerage.com/en/13/h3278.html
Thanks for the heads up. I thought that the 11-3 score was a tad much. I'm not a big Hejduk fan but I would never blame him for that debacle. As our football coach once said, there is no 'I' in 'team'.
BTW, a decent interview with Greg Vanney from Bastia ... www.ussoccerplayers.com/exclusives/329160.html
There is in French, where the term is ``equipe, (since this started as a vanney discussion).'' (and wouldn't that observation have just thrilled a football coach) Also, if you re-arrange the letters in team, you can spell meat, which, I'm just sure, means something.
