Vancouver Whitecaps FC - San Jose Earthquakes (Sunday, 10/5) pre/in/postgame thread [R]

We were going to travel to the Vancouver game this weekend. But today was the last day to cancel our hotel, and hubby thinks air travel and border control will be too chaotic with the government shutdown tomorrow. i had wanted to go to Vancouver for years. And with this last second cancellation, i don’t know if the Quakes will ever give me away tickets again. Rats.

 

The Quakes won in Vancouver in the ancient year of 2023.

 

I don’t think a tie and a win will get us into the playoffs. Maybe but we’d need a lot of help. There should be no “settling for ties” right now. Our postseason chances are at 34%. Winning out is the only way we have a good chance.

 

Lol. Border agents will be working, as per usual.

And air travel is often chaotic. My flight to San Diego last weekend was delayed for three hours. Still had a blast.

Book another hotel and go.

 

I couldn’t remember what happened in the last govt shutdown, but didn’t want to take a chance off getting stranded or killled. Glad u had fun in San Diego, guess I should have done that trip instead!

 

Those two or three games where we got f#cked over by the refs look kinda large now, yeah?

 

Worst one was in the Open Cup, which doesn’t impact playoff positioning, but, yeah, eff the refs.

Paul Dolan is one of the better color Apple color commentators who does kind of see our team, but he is (or was) also the Vancouver Whitecaps color commentator. So we'll see how biased he is, but he has the potential to be super biased.

And both Dallas and RSL have a game in hand on us.

 

There are so many ways one can say "we're screwed", and that image encompasses many of them...

 

They only have a game in hand on us after we play today. But we’re likely screwed anyway. If we win today we’ll be tied with Dallas and one point ahead of RSL, and they’ll have a game in hand. We pretty much have to win out to have a decent chance.
