    Where's Weimer?

Well, this summer she'll be in Vancouver. http://wleague.uslsoccer.com/home/506652.html

For some odd reason, I've always associated her with Canada. Maybe it's because she played at Penn St. with current CNT members Moscato and McLeod, and because she had a rivalry going with Sinclair.

This answers the annually recurring question about "Where's Weimer?" Will be great to see Ocho playing again, on the west coast. Will try and catch the Bay Area Breezer games vs the WhiteCaps this year when I can.

I'm looking at taking in the June 24 game up there vs Pali. I'm flying up to Seattle that weekend for a friend's wedding and will be driving up for a day trip to Vancouver.

The game against Pali is being played in Whistler. The Olympic ski venue should provide a scenic backdrop. Hope teams and fans enjoy it.

Noticed that a fan posted a complaint about how the Whitecaps' schedule made it difficult to attend games. http://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2011/04/four-join-whitecaps-fc-2011-w-league-roster It wasn't me, by the way.

Meanwhile, the team continues to sign players. They have more Americans than ever before and the majority are post-college.

    Roster is up. http://club.whitecapsfc.com/women/roster/default.aspx

In addition to the host of Americans, and one Taiwanese, the depth is provided by mostly local young Canadians. It's certainly a very different looking team and probably will play very differently from Whitecaps teams of the past. They're loaded with forwards/attacking midfielders. Tiffany Weimer is listed as only a midfielder.

Whitecaps win 2-0 over Highlanders. Both goals by Weimer in the first half, one on a penalty. Weimer plays great in the rain.

Whitecaps win their home opener 1-0 over Seattle. http://whitecapsfc.com/news/2011/05...-0-home-opener-coquitlams-percy-perry-stadium

A good magicJack-sized crowd of 1555. It was a homecoming for Sydney Leroux who played her youth soccer in Coquitlam when she was 14 or so. She got the biggest ovation during the player introductions. I don't know if she was rusty or not but her first touch was pretty awful. She did score the only goal and had the two other best chances for Vancouver. Weimer had a quiet game.

The June 24th game will be played in Surrey, not Whistler.

In a key Western Conference matchup, the Whitecaps tied the Pali Blues on the road, 1-1. With that result, there are now no teams in the conference with an unblemished record.

There's a story here that the Whitecaps have not renewed the contract of coach Hubert Busby.
