A guy on the Arsenal mailing list is looking for a place in the Vancouver area he can watch this weekend's Blackburn game. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

I take it you're not speaking to anyone from the Vancouver area right now?

Can't say that I blame you. I was a Bertuzzi fan until that. Should be 30 games and then a hearing with the league to see if he can play again. Disgusting, down-right dirty hockey. If that had happened in England we'd be reading about it in the press for the next 6 months, and Bertuzzi would be kicked out of the country. A sick, sick play.

No, it's not like that. Can't fault an entire city for the actions of an athlete who plays for a team in that city.

It was pathetic and gutless. It'll be interesting to see the punishment.

I'm in Vancouver - I don't condone Bertuzzi's actions (I'm not a huge Bertuzzi fan) but this wouldn't have happened if the Instigator Rule didn't happen. In the old days, the hit on Naslund (clean or not - I thought it was clean) would've been dealt with by the enforcer. No one hit Gretzky due to Dave Semenko's prescence and latter Marty McSorley. Also, these pests that agitate and get their sticks up but don't fight - they would get their due. Also dirty players like Marchment would get their due. I suspect Bertuzzi will be suspended for the season and likely the first round of the playoffs. As a Canucks fan this sucks but Bertuzzi deserves it. Btw, Bertuzzi has called Moore and checked up on him at the hospital - he didn't expect this to happen but you deal with the consequences. Hopefully Bertuzzi will be a clean player after this . . .

Back to watching the game - I usually watch at home but if you go to Commercial Drive here in Vancouver (Italy town) - there's lots of cafes that show games.

I dunno about that instigator crapola----they tried to fight him eariler, he did well. They tried to run the goalie, as well as fight other players, and were generally unsuccessful everywhere. So Bertuzzi resorted to that sickening display. In my opinion, he is a dangerous thug who belongs in jail, and has no business playing professionally in the NHL. This hit is just as bad as the McSorley hit, as not only did Bertuzzi sucker punch him, but then drove him, while unconcious, headfirst into the ice. He broke his neck----that should mean jailtime.

Also, I don't think the fans get a pass on this, as they stayed at a game where they were losing 8-2, not to see if their team came back, but to see "revenge" extracted on Steve Moore. To me, the fans were classless, Brad May is a piece of shite, Bertuzzi belongs in jail and Crawford should be fired.

Can't completely agree with you on the fans. Hey, when I pay $85 to watch the Stars play, I'm staying until the end, regardless of the score, partially because of the cash outlay and partially because I don't believe in leaving a game early.

I know the law is starting the wheels turning to look into the matter, but it happened during a hockey game. It's the NHL's problem, and if the law in BC gets involved it sets a bad precedent.

Bertuzzi deserves at least as much as McSorley, probably more since the kid has a broken neck

    30 games, minimum.

BC has already set the precedent when it prosecuted McSorley

When did you get the ability to read the minds of the fans who stayed at the game? You can't blame fans for sticking around. True fans of any team will stick around until the end of a game, even if their team is losing.

As a Canucks fan, I really wish Bertuzzi wasn't such an idiot. The team made some good moves at the deadline, and will get Jovanovski back soon, so they would have been set if he had any respect for his fellow NHLers and teamates. I think he should get 35 games, and some time with Bubba in cell block C.

I'll give Vancouver police this: at least they're consistent and investigating Bertuzzi as well. I also agree about the instigator rule, as it took the ability to police the game out of the players' hands.

On another, happier note, let's hear it for the Penguins, now three wins in a row after tonight's 4-0 win over the Stars! (Coach, I'm looking in your direction here!)

And I'm staring into the distance as if I don't see you!

Seriously, great game by Aubin. The kid was unconcious tonight.

    games in vancouver

I was there last year for business and managed to sneak out to watch the Arsenal-Ajax game at a place called the Barnet Hotel. It is kind of a dive; however, you can pop into the strip joint at half time. The games are shown in a run down conference room with a big movie screen in absolute darkness.

Go to Setanta.com and click on TV Schedules, then North American venues and then key in the postal code where you will be staying.

I believe that another place to watch the game is at the British Ex-Serviceman's Club in Burnaby.
