MLS officials including Don Garber arrive in Vancouver on Tuesday for the official announcement: http://www.team1040.ca/news/story/?id=1831 The wait is over Vancouver...
TSN (Canada's ESPN) is running with the story as well. TSN story about major announcement next week Looks like Portland is in the lead but not across the finish line as per this report.
Welcome to MLS Vancouver! Looking forward to having you join us and travel up to your beautiful city. I just hope they call the team the Whitecaps.
Maybe they should call themselves... Vancouver Alliance, Vancouver Republic... not!!! CONGRATS WHITECAPS!!!
Kerfoot should just go ahead and announce that the name will be Whitecaps at the official announcement of the team. Because if they let the fans have a say, there's no way it will be anything else.
I'm 100% sure we're going to stay the Whitecaps...you wouldn't imagine the outcry there'd be here if they weren't. We're looking forward to 2011! I've had the pleasure of travelling to MLS games in four cities, and there's great supporters throughout the league. In the meantime, we'll just be content knocking TFC out of the Voyageurs Cup .
Yeah, the next thing will be rejigging the logo...that's been in the works. It will be Whitecaps of course. Now let's keep our fingers crossed for Portland, and before you know it...those 3 teams will share the cost of bringing in the Chelsea's and Man U's of the world.
I REALLY hope it is the Whitecaps & looking forward to a road trip to Vancouver (never been there) and the 1st Galaxy-Vancouver match!!!
When the time comes, we'll give you all the great neighbouring pubs and eateries. The nice part about BC Place...is it's close to everything downtown. When (not if) the Waterfront stadium is done (2016ish) it'll be a whole new level of excellence. My goal is to make a league road trip to all the fab stadiums around the circuit.
Oigee Oigee Oigee! Congrats 'Caps fans. Always the best bid in my opinion. We'll see some of you Thursday night at Qwest.
On the day that the announcement leaked, there was not a single post on the Vancouver forum. Last post was March 12. Congratulations, Vancouver.
The leak was made late on a friday night. The only reason I even heard it was because it was announced during a break in the hockey game. There's not really much to talk about until word of an official announcement comes down. Especially since the team is off in Africa.
I think when there is actual official confirmation Vancouver is getting a franchise you'll see people posting about it. The speculation in the media and countless misinformed people repetitively reporting the same news, including some dolts on this website, is a bit much to chin wag about. Some proof or Garber announcing it this week in Van is what will get us excited.
