Unfortunately, Greenland couldn't emulate Valur in the recent Island Games. They came in second (silver medal) behind the Isle of Man. Guernsey took the bronze.

Literally getting off a plane from Rejkavik right now. Valur had a "Rapids style snoozer" on Monday night putting up a 0-0 tie.
Did you attend? Maybe with a Rapids scarf? That would be awesome if they knew we actually followed them a bit. rod.
So how's this for a Rapids scarf in a crazy place picture? I was going through some old pictures and found this one where I'm wearing a STH scarf. That's me on the far right taking a break from dogsledding on Baffin Bay, just off the coast of Greenland about 700 miles above the Arctic Circle, drinking a gin and tonic with glacier ice from the iceberg behind us.
Valur beat Grindavik 2-0 today. Einar Karl Ingvarsson scored a brace for Valur. Valur is current at the top of the table, 5 points above Stjarnan with an equal amount of games played. Thor was not witnessed in any form in today's game.
Valur beat IBV (which to me sounds like a birth control product) 3-2 today. They tried their best to Rapids it up, giving up the second goal in the 93rd minute, but alas they could not complete the fail. Scoring for Valur was by Patrick Pedersen (2, 9' + 49'), Dion Jeremy Acoff (21') IBV scorers Pablo Punyed (55'), Arnor Gauti Ragnarsson (90'+3) Looking at the goal scorers, I'd have to say there are far too many foreigners in this league!
Fine. You people give Houston a thumping in their own house and you forget all about Valur. Well, some of us weren't so lucky this weekend so at least this is some solace. VALUR 1 - 0 BREIDABLIK Valur scored in the 80th minute on a lovely goal by Kristinn (Ingi) Halldórsson, meaning Valur are in sole possession of first place with 40 points, 9 points ahead of Stjarnan. Being as it's Euro football, it seems appropriate to say "Valur are" instead of "Valur is". Should probably add the letter "u" to some random words as well. Those of you who were lucky enough to attend in person or watch live might want to flesh this one out.
Umlauts are German. German engineering is PRECISE. NO RANDOM UMLAUTS! They will be specifically and carefully placed!
80's metal was out smoking in the boys room during German class. Which was one of the many nice touches by Spinal Tap:
Point of order: That's '70 rock. The cover by that glam metal STD band was a travesty, as was their appropriated umlaut. Spinal Tap gets a pass, because of course they do.
Valur posted a 1-1 draw vs. KA Akureyri today. After going down 1-0 in the 47' Gudjon Petur Lydsson scored a PK in the 63' to level things up. Valur are still top of the table, 7 points over Stjarnan G (if the current scoreline stays the same).
Valur won 4-1 at home in convincing fashion yesterday. With the win they sit at the top of the table with 44 points and 9 points clear of second place. With only two match-days remaining, they have mathematically won the league. Congrats to the 2017 Islandmeistarar!
Stjarnan 1 - 2 Valur Just to put an exclamation mark on this championship season, Valur won at second-place Stjarnan. Valur now has a twelve-point lead going into the last round.
Iceland's national team qualified for the 2018 World Cup by defeating Kosovo 2-0, becoming the smallest nation ever to qualify. If Wikipedia is correct, no Valur players were on the roster for that match. According to Wikipedia, three Valur players were called up for earlier WCQ matches: M Sigurður Egill Lárusson D Orri Sigurður Ómarsson GK Anton Ari Einarsson And that's about the extent of my ability to sleuth out anything connecting Valur to Iceland's World Cup team and to cut-and-paste their remarkably complicated names here. :
Valur beat IBV 2-1 today to take the Iceland Super Cup. No Thors were involved in the scoring. Round 1 of Urvalsdeild starts on the 27th, with Valur facing KR Reykjavik for the season kickoff of their title defense.
