JJ has been saying things in the media that make me feel there is some complacency setting in on him.
I know almost nothing about Atlético Mineiro’s roster let alone how they compare to the roster Santos had which Sampaoli made so competitive last year. This could make or break Atlético’s president; he’s betting Sampaoli will do with his team what he did with Santos. If he doesn’t, that’s BRL 1.2 million wasted, even though much of the money will come from sponsors. On the flip side, it could be a stroke of genius: if the team challenges Flamengo for Brazil’s best side in 2020, it’ll vindicate the gamble and who knows, lead to another 1-year contract. Not to mention the team playing so well during a year Cruzeiro is in relegation. As for Sampaoli - was U. de Chile the last team he was at for more than 1 year?
Apparently he contacted Sao Paulo trying to sell his services hoping they were unhappy with Diniz. They turned him down. He gambled wanting sky high salary and making loads of demands and lost. Probably was also hoping JJ would leave so he could take over Flamengo. Atletico play Flamengo in 1st round of Brasileirão BTW.
That should be interesting. São Paulo has not been very competitive for quite some time, and the fact they're doing well in the Paulista with a decent start to the season gives me some hope for 2020 to a year during which they become even better. I'm happy Sampaoli did not enter the fray - the team is still in formation, and the club as a whole has had some things to work out. If/when later in the future when the institution is doing better and thus able to afford a pricy manager, then sure. But for now I'm satisfied with Diniz. I would see a Libertadores final four finish as very successful and a quarterfinal finish as decent. As for Sampaoli, it would have been very interesting to see him manage a contender in this year's Libertadores. Oh well.
In these trying times I feel like we need something to laugh at. Pato dreams of returning to Milan after winning the Libertadores. https://www.gazetaesportiva.com/tim...e-voltar-ao-milan-ganho-a-libertadores-e-vou/ Hope everyone is safe.
Foi ... Mister signs for Benfica. Lets see which Brazilian coach that was talking trash steps up now. @Mengão86 Hope you guys are doing well.
Tiago Nunes fired. Andres Sanchez just his week said he was happy with Tiago Nunes work even though the results weren't coming yet and thought it was absurd that managers in Brazil don't get time to work. So he was going to give him time unless he lost the locker room. I guess he changed his mind
Carol Portaluppi trolled the Corinthians fan base to gain Instagram followers ... Looks like Renato Gaucho just wanted some publicity. He is waiting for Ceni to fall and take over Flamengo. Crazy how the Flamenguistas want Ceni's head ... they are just waiting for him to slip enough @Mengão86
I wouldn't mind Renato, but I don't know if he is the be all, end all. At the end of the day, our CBs are hurting us and Ceni really isn't at fault for that. Yeah, there are some questionable decisions that Ceni has made, but overall, I think he has done a solid job.
I gotta say, treating that song as a hint is really wishful thinking. Yeah it has Flamengo in it, but it's an ode to Rio that everyone knows.
Pedro no Palmeiras ? I will take it. But it will be a cold day in Hell before Flamengo lets him come. With Gabigol seemingly not going anywhere, I think Pedro realizes he may have made a mistake now. If Gabigol gets benched to give Pedro the starting spot I bet Gabigol would create some unhealthy drama. I hear also that JJ knows he is gonna get fired and that Corinthians have already made contact. But it's obvious he will end up at Flamengo if he comes. What do you say @Mengão86 ? I see Flamenguistas online basically begging for JJ to come back.
That seems to have caught all of Brazil by surprise. Despite knowing Cruzeiro was going public as an SA (SAF I guess), I guess there wasn't much speculation on who might be buying shares.
The only speculation I saw going around from Cruzeiro alternative media sources was Saudi Arabia fund who made a statement they are interested in buying other clubs around the world including one in South America.
It's funny because only a couple of weeks ago I saw his interview on Flow and the question came up from a listener as a joke.
Cuca has left Atlético-MG. Came as a surprise to me but apparently it was expected: https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...o-sera-o-treinador-do-atletico-mg-em-2022.htm
It's not the first time that Cuca does this. He is a strange guy. The interesting part is that Atletico are supposedly going straight for JJ. News out of Portugal is that there was a big bust up between the players and JJ yesterday. https://br.noticias.yahoo.com/jogadores-benfica-fazem-motim-e-043512439.html In 2019 they almost signed him with JJ coming to visit their CT and being very impressed with the facilities. So he is already familiar with the club. If that happens, Flamengo's fan base will be very pissed at Braz for not being more patient.
