yep, seems ridiculous especially from his end but I wouldn’t be surprised if we throw some big money Dortmund’s way for him. Although I’d be shocked if Madrid, Barca, PSG, etc let us take a free run at him.
Totally agree that he went to the right place. The point was that on current form, Martial is only keeping his place because he has no competition.
i think a lot of our fans and people in general missed that. even if you meet a release clause a player can always say no. in my mind we haven't missed out on a player was never coming anyway
Proving Mourinho wrong drove Martial. https://www.espn.com/soccer/manches...mined-to-prove-mourinho-wrong-at-old-trafford
Nice touch from Martial. Martial dedicated his goal to Porto's Moussa MaregaHe was recently a victim of racial abuse in PortugalWell played @AnthonyMartial 👏👏 pic.twitter.com/B9eVvtyAPv— Paul 𝕏 Manc Bald and Bred (@MufcWonItAll2) February 20, 2020
Perfect opportunity for a bump. Knew it had been a while since we've registered a hattrick but honestly did not realize it was 7yrs (!). Oh well, very happy that has been put to bed and honestly happier that Tony was the guy to do it. He (and the rest of the team) really need to keep this going now. The schedule is very friendly for the next 6gms (between FA Cup and leagues): no reason they can't run the table in those if the players keep their heads straight and their eye on the prize (and Ole manages the squad properly/keep the players fresh, injury free).
As an aside, Martial has scored the most goals in this calendar year so far (7) and he's got one of the highest conversion rates in the league as well. Who knows where his tally would be if he hadn't missed any time with injuries. Really maturing as a player and a striker.
We're watching the transformation to a centre forward. He's really making a lot of proper #9 runs. Near post, far post. He's gambling he's throwing himself at the ball. He's even showing emotion and getting mad when the ball doesn't come or comes too late. I like it. He stays fit, he's gonna top 25 goals next year barring an aberation. He's got all the tools to score 10 goals by himself. With good service and these new instincts no way to keep him from scoring 15 "centre forward goals"
The way he's been playing as of late, if he's not Deschamps's pick at CF by next year's Euro for France... And I get that Giroud is very effective in his role, but Martial, as stated, has made HUGE stride in terms of mastering the CF position and he's just different gravy. It's like in 98, France won the WC with Guivarch and a declining/injured Dugarry but they subsequently upgraded to Giroud/Trezeguet and ultimately were the better for it. Same scenario here: time for Tony to get back in with Les Bleus #Martial2021 agenda in full effect.
I think Rio is impressed! Ooooooh Tony you dream! 😍@AnthonyMartial 3-1 @ManUtd pic.twitter.com/mE0l9SZIVv— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) July 4, 2020
TH14, clearly... Let's just hope that he's finally turned the corner for good (both in terms of transitioning to a 9 and physically as well in regards to injuries). Deschamps had already made it clear last November he was ready to recall him. And from France's perspective the link of Martial and Mbappe has to be exciting in terms of its potential.
