There is a color print for sale on the Rover the Moon shop that is called "V-E Day". I am guessing it is commemorating Rovers Premiereship title?? Anyone know the story behind that one?? It looks relatively inexpensive.
On May 8th 1995, Rovers played Newcastle at Ewood in their final home game of the season, a win would have almost guaranteed the title. Also on that day fifty years earlier it was VE Day (Victory in Europe) from World War II. Rovers won 1-0 through an Alan Shearer headed goal (the header is what the print is based on), and thus it was locally named Victory at Ewood day. Hope that explains. thanks Lee
