The game starts at 1. I should be back no later than 5 to talk about it, unless something tragic happens and I'm too pissed off/upset to post.
'Hoos win! 'Hoos win! http://virginiasports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/va-m-soccer-frame.html As I said in an earlier thread, Virginia absolutely HAD to have this game, which made it one of the biggest regular season games for UVa in years. Nice to see the Cavs step up. Looks like UVa jumped on the Dookies early and didn't look back. I'd have loved to have seen the game and were it not for MLS Cup would have driven down. But, the league needed the help with the ratings! Courtney, I look forward to your report.
I'm depressed anyway, but it had nothing to do with this game. LOL I wanted more goals. More more more! 3-1 the final score, even though the ref was HORRIBLE and took away an Alecko goal which would have put him at 19 for the season, instead he's at 18. Anyway, UVA looked pretty sloppy, but so did Duke with the exception of Perea, who shined. My little brother started calling him mighty mouse (cos he's so small) and the mighty part definately fit him well. As for UVA's players, Ryan Kelley had a good game compared to some of the other recent ones I've seen, LeBlanc seemed really really sluggish, this kid was good last year, but this year he only seems to do well like 1 our of every 6 games. Ryan Gibbs played and looked better than he has all season, Arena was back in the starting lineup. Comfort had a pretty good game, afterwards when he took off his gloves one of his hands looked kind of swollen, he didn't play the last game so that made me wonder if he hadn't hurt his hand, or if he really did that badly against Clemson (from what those of you who saw the game said) for them not to play him. No Hunter Freeman tonite, and Joe Vide only played a few minutes. Okay, I lost my train of thought. But the ref sucked really bad (did he KNOW what offsides means?), and these two stuck up UVA girls (sophomores I think) were sitting behind me and really pissing me off through the second half. One of them actually said "shhh" to me at one point. But the rest of the time they kept making these comments like "yelling doesn't help the team do any better," "that's not necessary," and "you're supposed to support the team, not yell at them and people on the other team." Sounded to me like maybe they should stick to women's games. They were trying to sound all know-it all about it too. I wanted to be like "look, I've been coming here for 4 years, and I know what's up." Also gave me a fine example of why boys prefer JMU girls, and why we're rated higher by Playboy than them, muwhaha. And apparently they have all sortsa schoolwork to do and its sooo hard. Suckas.* But anyway, yay for the win, go 'Hoos, but I'm glad I don't go to school there. So disregard that whole anti-UVA rant up there, unless you don't like them, in which case you can smile. Also Duke, BOO. Their #9 kept trying to start stuff with our players, threatening them and talking smack whenever someone fouled him or even just took the ball from him. Eventually he was yellow-carded, but I was really surprised he didn't wind up accumulating another. He settled down a little bit after that one, but it was still pretty rough. *Please don't take comments made by your moderator seriously while she is under the influence of heavy painkillers for her knee. I don't know if it is you who screams the entire game on the grassy knoll, but if it is you, please take this request without offense. It really detracts from the joy of the game when someone in your vicinity does nothing but scream and yell during the game- every time a player touches the ball it is a loud obnoxious play by play. Really irritating and disturbing for those that sit on the grass, which has always been the place where people sit who wish to watch the game in peace. I have been to games the past five years and never encountered such boisterous, incessant banter from fans on the grassy side. The fans that want to yell sit on the bleachers with the band and scream and yell to their heart's delight. if this is not you, please ignore this. If it is you, I respect your right to cheer for your team, but please keep the yelling and endless play by play rah rah cheerleading either to yourself or take it to the bleachers. If you have to sit on the grass, how about at least going up to the fence so your vociferous yokeling passes over the field and not over our ears. Peace and love from a fellow hoo fan.
Hey, it's no secret that the girls at JMU are hotter than the ones in C-Ville. And just as importantly, the JMU girls tend to be, uh, "friendlier" than the prudes at UVa. I'm a UVa fan but when I was in school, I loved JMU girls!
No, I sit in the bleachers, and I'm actually not that loud. Working for Sports Media Relations has toned me down a lot.
