Pretty excited. Just got the press release that says: URFC is founded on the principle of a Club made for women, by women, empowering women, It will be interesting to see how it is run.
I like the updated logo. Saying lots of the right things, and the commissioner is a good final speaker. Her POV is a good one.
While I liked the old crest, the lion appeared to maybe have a mane. Close look made it clear it didn't, but (at least for me) it took a close look. The new logo is a very nice style and imagery and doesn't suffer from lack of clarity that I saw in the old one. I like it!
So I don't follow the Royals like I do RSL, but I've been wondering about the expansion fee. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.c...-Bodies/nwsl-expansion-clubs-record-fees.aspx Would the Royals be coming back if ownership had to pay $50m like the other expansion teams?
No But NWSL said that wasn’t going to happen. Too much success here and the reason for leaving was too specific to a single asshole
ARod is the new coach. Her first HC job. 1yr assistant. Bold move. I'm be happy to see her back, but I'll hold judgment about her coaching.
A lot of the players loved it here, except for the whole FO thing. I think Utah is an attractive place for women's soccer players. They aren't so concerned with all the high-rollin' big city perks. And if they are, we've got Park City.
With the hiring of a very promising sporting director in Kelly Cousins, it's time to start building out the roster. She's got a great pedigree for building a team. Story here. And with the World Cup underway, it's also high time for scouting.
I am still pissed that they didn't take her to the World Cup. Especially just to keep a 37 year old Rapinoe on the team. Nuts. I won't be surprised when the US doesn't win this thing. Not because of Ashley but when you're building a roster and sentiment plays a role it can backfire. We shall see.
Locker rooms matter The reason the US won’t win is Vlatko. He overcomplicated things and acts like he’s doing rocket science
Royals announced the launch of season ticket sales, which is a bit awkward IMO since they have no players to laud.
"Major" club announcement being touted by the club for 26 October. The location has me quite curious: it's at the academy in Herriman. And a residential academy for the Royals would be next level stuff.
If true, I do not envy the folks who have to ensure a bunch of teenage boys and girls don’t… you know… be teenagers
Ahhh yes. It’s been 50 years ago but I still recall interesting moments one summer when my FSU college dorm was housing for both the Bobby Bowden football camp and the major national high school cheerleading camp…at the same time. Jiminy Christmas…
