yeah, definitely different tactic than Jill Ellis usual high back lining. Didn't have to worry about Swedish counters, as the players were aptly spread out. It's a little scary with the back passing, but then don't think there's any current opposing NT that hard hard now that Herdman moved on. Porbably not going to be as many shots taken as compared to Ellis' hurrid offence, but what shots were taken, were very accurate, indeed!
Ugh, the men's upcoming schedule just popped up. The men's team needs to figure things out. It's depressing watching them of late.
John Herdman is 5'4. Just thought everyone should know that. I'm enjoying this game. The defensive shape, 4-4-1, was often implemented during the WC though. This formation isn't new to the team.
Julie Ertz? Getting to....rest? Sounds fake but ok. #USAvSWE— Steph Yang | Horrible Soccer Goose (@thrace) November 8, 2019
I didn't expect Horan to get that shot off. Those were some strong moves in the box. I really liked the earlier boot by Naeher, right to Williams' chest.
Nice to see Lavelle getting a little more involved this half. And... she puts her shot on frame. Nice.
Naeher called Sauerbrunn off in a bad position. That was ugly. US immediately on the offensive. Short earns a penalty. Lloyd puts it over the bar.
It might have been the other way around. Regardless, it shouldn't have happened. hnnnnnnn a defensive miscommunication sees a second, super weird Sweden goal. Sauerbrunn seems to try and set the block so Naeher can come out and clean but Jakobsson gets a touch and they finish on an open net.
