USWNT vs SWEDEN Date: Nov 07 2019 Time: 4:30PM PST Place: MAPFRE Stadium, Columbus, Ohio, USA TV Channels: Vlatko's first match as head coach of the best team in the world. Finally, it's been a long time coming for me to see this. Looking forward to his roster choices. Although, I don't expect many surprises. Here's who Sweden is bringing:
US roster: GOALKEEPERS (4): Aubrey Bledsoe (Washington Spirit; 0/0), Adrianna Franch (Portland Thorns FC; 3/0), Ashlyn Harris (Orlando Pride; 23/0), Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars; 56/0) DEFENDERS (6): Alana Cook (Paris Saint-Germain/FRA; 0/0), Abby Dahlkemper (NC Courage; 52/0), Imani Dorsey (Sky Blue FC; 0/0), Becky Sauerbrunn (Utah Royals FC; 169/0), Casey Short (Chicago Red Stars; 30/0), Emily Sonnett (Portland Thorns FC; 38/0) MIDFIELDERS (7): Morgan Brian (Chicago Red Stars; 86/7), Julie Ertz (Chicago Red Stars; 93/19), Lindsey Horan (Portland Thorns FC; 77/12), Rose Lavelle (Washington Spirit; 36/10), Allie Long (Reign FC; 50/8), Samantha Mewis (NC Courage; 59/14), Andi Sullivan (Washington Spirit; 13/0) FORWARDS (7): Tobin Heath (Portland Thorns FC; 160/32), Carli Lloyd (Sky Blue FC; 286/118), Jessica McDonald (NC Courage; 13/2), Christen Press (Utah Royals FC; 128/49), Mallory Pugh (Washington Spirit; 60/18), Margaret Purce (Portland Thorns FC; 0/0), Lynn Williams (North Carolina Courage; 19/4) Eighteen players will be named for each game day roster.
US players currently with injuries: O'Hara, Krieger, Dunn, Davidson, and Rapinoe. Morgan is out with her pregnancy. The injured players will all be at camp for a few days to meet with Andonovski.
Sweden looking at little weakish on defense, notably missing from their backline is Fisher, Ilesteadt, Rubinsson/upfront; Rolfo. Schough, Larrson(all were on their WC squad). Hopefully this will encourage Vlatko to experiment with newer players as well
Two of the more prominent players have dropped out. Caroline Seger, the teams Captain. Linda Sembrant, our second most experienced defender after Fischer who isn't comming either. They will not be replaced-

here's a friendlies score just in; Brazil 4, Canada 0 Canada's lost their last game by the same score & been on a downhill slide since their underwhleming showing at the WC. They were more successful under Herdman even though his 'rock em sock em' physical style was critically panned(as well left a lot of bruises & broken bones on the playing field) it did bring 2 bronze medals for them at the Olympics. His successor a, Dane named Moeller, brought more refined, technical tactics to his squad. Though Moeller mean't to be more well intentioned than the brutish Herdman, fans started complaining that watching his game play was the next best thing to Melatonin for inducing sleep that's why got to wonder if Vlatko is another Moeller?(I have'nt watched any of his Reign club games)
Beachhead established......across the Interstate from Mapfre. Currently 34 but at least the snow has stopped. No matter, in 271 minutes the Greatest Team in the Universe will warm the hearts and souls of all in attendance
Vlatko plays it safe for game one, at least with the starting lineup. Traditional Ellis style 4-3-3 with all World Cup players sans Short. Lots of speed on the bench to call upon. Naeher Sonnett Dahlkemper Sauerbrunn Short Ertz Horan Lavelle Heath Lloyd Press Subs: Harris, Dorsey, Sullivan, Mewis, Pugh, Purce, Williams Not dressing: Franch, Bledsoe, Cook, Long, Brian, McDonald
Brisk conditions in Colombus, to put it charitably. Temperatures 30-35 degrees for this game. Why U.S. Soccer schedules games in the north in fall/winter I don’t quite understand. Plenty of more temperate venues available. Builds character?
Im gonna give the coach a pass on this one and wouldnt be surprised if we lose. I dont like his lineup much and I know he didnt have much time... maybe he'll make adjustments? Problems include: Lloyd at CF... we need to go younger here soon Heath at Sloooooow. Lets see how she looks against a good team. Need to be younger here too Horan starting also Slooooow.. extra slow Ertz as center mid - a banger, not a creator. See her as a CD not CH Mewis on the bench WTF! She should be starting center mid. She can create We'll see how it goes and if it goes bad... what adjustments he makes
The US had Sweden pinned back in their own third for much of the opening few minutes. Sweden built up something that got to the opposite box, but turned the ball over and the US built a counter that Lloyd finished off after a pass from Press I believe.
