any pbp'ers? o.k., i know i'm one of those who doesn't expect anything significant from these games, and the last game confirmed that for me. but it's still great that the team is on tv. remember, the team still has a few weeks to practice and to peak, so they are not going to go full bore at this moment. maybe i'm fooling myself. on another note, buehler just took her mcats last week (wow!!!), and she's from the san diego area. so this should be fun for the stanford allamerican. more power to her. http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_7897088.html
My mother-in-law is set to arrive in town tonight. If so, I'll be entertaining. Otherwise, I'll be around for a bit of PBP... and some beers.
Ill be here unless Soccerfan is running the feed on justin tv. I think its easier to chat over there. Anyone know what the weather is going to be? by the way for those like me without fsc, you can see the game here: http://www.channelsurfing.net/watch-fox-soccer-channel.html
htide, thanks so much! I called every sports bar around and no one has FSC. I was so worried I'd be craptracking tonight.
You gotta get FSC. It's for the soccer addict in us. Except when they show reruns of games over and over. It's only about $6 extra a month in my area.
FSC is always channel 21500 on TVU. I'll probably me multi-tasking and watching a few things tonight(including Superliga...) so I'll probably be watching a minute behind on TVU instead of FSC on television... //I wish USSoccer would use real time instead of this made up "PT" thing http://pages.tvunetworks.com/channels/#
For those who get DirecTV (via satellite dish), FSC now is Channel 619, at least in the Pacific Northwest. It's part of the supplemental sports package you can buy to go with the basic package. I checked the guide via the TV screen and it doesn't list the game tonight. However, I checked FSC's TV guide over the internet and it lists the game as being on FSC at 7:00 pm, as anticipated. The US Women's Soccer webpage says the same thing. PS - You also can watch the Tour de France if you have the DirecTV sports package.
Oh, I dunno. For better or worse, I think what you see is pretty much what you get with our national team right now. Have we looked particularly sharper or flashier or better in most of the big games since 2003? Do we look much different than how we looked against Brazil in 2004 finals? Or Germany in the 2004 semi? Or against North Korea, Sweden or England last year? But yes it's great to actually see it on real TV. Maybe I'm a little easier to please than most people here because I'm so happy to see a real game on TV.
already 2 good chances for the US - cross by Abby just not run onto by Tarpley, then an almost thru pass to Abby and she just puts it wide of the right post with a left footed shot.
