We made it to halftime. This has probably been the worst half for the US in this tournament, but somehow we're still 0-0, so I guess that's good?
Given their history, I can’t say I blame them to an extent. However, reputation and history mean ******** all.
Agree with Julie there. Crystal Dunn seemed to be losing her legs towards the end of the half. Curious how that first half is addressed. Brazil clearly dictating the game.
I think Lavelle maybe isn't healthy enough to play a full 90, but we're missing her defensive work rate in the midfield, even more so than what she can offer offensively right now. She would have tracked back and won some of those balls where some of our midfield was just passed around.
Really needed to rest some people against Australia. Just too many games in too few days to run out same starting lineup every game
We should be thankful that Brazil has been a bit wasteful in front of goal: 1822300928763994157 is not a valid tweet id Hopefully, Hayes is giving them a hell of a halftime speech...and makes some subs.
The vision on the field is vastly different than what the TV cameras show. The human eye, assuming referees are truly human, is vastly superior to the electronic eye of TV cameras. In most situations it is the fact that it is transitions from sun to shadow that make it hard to see on TV but, on the field, the eyes see just fine and are only hampered when directly staring into the sun. In other words it is not the ref's eyes that are the problem but rather her brain. I am also quite concerned about Marta in the second half. It takes quite a bit of courage to withhold a player like Marta to gain a second half advantage but it has worked for Brazil so I expect to see Marta as a half time sub or an early on sub (60 minute mark or so at the latest) and when she comes on the match's quality will change a lot. If it is a change for the better or worse for Brazil we will have to see.
Albert cannot play defense. She is better fitted playing higher up. She may give away fouls or let Brazil get by in dangerous places. Dunn doesn't do anything on offense yet she only plays defense sometimes. Can not allow Davidson isolated out wide. Girma looked average or worse today. The rest of players were average. We need to do better to pull it off.
Apparently the above tweet I posted was deleted, but it said Brazil's xG was 1.29 in the first half, which, according to the tweet, is higher than the previous 5 matches' first halves' combined xG.
On one bright note, Brazil is playing pretty direct and sending numbers forward, which has left them open to the counter. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have the legs to take advantage of it. We need subs and/or a change of tactics.
She has been defending a lot, but has been expected to also be a wing player up the field. She's putting in a lot of miles. It's the same concern I have for Rodman, but Rodman isn't in a position that she should be tested as much. There is going to be a Brazlian sub now.
Is this a 3-4-3? Seems strange that Brazil is attacking 3v3 often but we can’t find favorable numbers in midfield or attack like that
