I see that Ellis STILL has no idea how to break down a bunkered defense. No place in this game for Morgan. That being said, she just missed a sitter. We are still weak in the final 1/3 with this group
Then why play at all? If that's the objective, they may as well wrap themselves in bubble wrap with a sticker saying: "Don't open until 2019 WWC."
The US is pulling out of challenges all over the field. So far the US has really created nothing and nothing is the result, except for a gift by the Mexican GK.
I'm a little unclear if this is an official hydration break. There's likely enough humidity, but the center was rushing Morgan off the field at first.
They play this kind of meaningless match because the USSF is greedy and wants all the cash the USWNT can generate.
O'Hara... I'm sure she meant to do that. Heath's shot goes wide. We missed a Mewis header over the bar.
Morgan basically one-on-one with the goalkeeper on a break from midfield and she is saved on a low shot.
I keep thinking these 10 days of media fawning and fun between matches may have made the team a little rusty. Same thing seemed to happen in the 0-0 draw against RSK in the final send-off series match in 2015.
The girl with the pink hair (yes I know her name but that sound cooler) wins a lingering full face closeup by horribly missing a free kick. Sigh.
Great ball from Heath and Dunn just put one of the best balls on goal we've had the entire game. Great save by Santiago of the Dunn header. It's almost like she should be playing forward more...
I don't buy that. The decision to start players falls on Jill's shoulders. She needs to decide whether to keep her starters sharp by playing them in games like this or give the backups some minutes, which might be more important at this point.
Although she is not the best at any position it is almost too bad we can't clone her. But often the way she plays makes it seem there are two to four of her on the field.
But what about the FANGIRLS??? (I shouldn't be making this commentary, since I for most intents and purposes am one.)
Miserable first half by the U.S. against a Mexico team missing its best players. No Ocampo, no Corral, no K. Johnson, no Sanchez, no Mayor, no Sierra. I'm not fond of Rainoe's pink hair. Go red, really red, or blond, really blond. Pink is wimpy.
Well we don't know what tattoos she has or does not have on various body parts. Maybe she could get a genie one and then we could call her "The girl with the genie tattoo." (A TV reference to the "Zoo" series for those that don't know)
You expected otherwise in this meaningless match? The second half will see more goals as the Mexicans tire and the US players that are not starting come in. I'm pretty sure Lloyd will get a couple if she enters the match soon enough.
Kind of surprised as to how out of sync the Women were. You'd think after being in camp as long as they have been they'd be sharper.
