Guess you never heard of an little ole country called Sweden who got an amazing 4-1-1 record vs US in major competitions since 2011 Our star studded u23 recent trip showed that they had troubles dealing with taller, more athletic & physical Netherlands & Denmark Bunny Shaw most likely this season’s mvp in the WSL, looking like Kristy Van Zetten also headed that way in the NWSL Concacaf probably 2nd best continent in woso, but still, Europe got half of the world’s best. They’ll end up finishing WC qualifiers in early June, but then start up the Nations League again in September , so don’t know if their available for friendlies in the summer or go to wild card playoffs for still available WC spots, or due to the men’s WC, just take an break. Concacaf qualifiers should be November . If it’s anytime like done previously; three week tourney featuring 8 teams in two groups; top three automatically make it, a fourth goes to wild card playoff vs someone from another confederation as mentioned by other posters, there’s plenty of talent this time around. Even seventh ranked Panama has a victory last year vs Australia(played down under)
I specifically said pace. And one of Sweden's most dynamically fast player, Jacobsson, has retired. I don't remember if it was the 2015 or the 2019 tournament that she was just so threatening with her pace, and it was exciting to see. Agreed. Saw too early in the season to make this prediction. I'd throw in Jonsdottir who has an equal chance at this point, but it's really moot to make predictions only 5 matches into the season.
swift & agile winger & standing over 6ft tall, Jacobsson was one of an kind. Sweden still got a top notch CF in Blackstenius, but she’s got to share that spot with Russo at Arsenal.. And now English social & mass media are pushing Russo for Ballon d’or(which probably means even less playing time for the Swede) that club has just signed SpanishNT, r-FB Ona Batlle, we’ll have to see if Fox can keep her starting spot ——————————————— club soccer hasn’t had that much of an indicator on who plays best on National teams; despite 0 goals/0 assists for their respective NWSL clubs, Lavelle & Rodman had an great series against Japan. Could say the same about Heaps)who usually gets outshined by Yohannes & Shrader at Lyon)
I'm wondering if some of Heaps' difficulty at Lyonnnes this season is due to being away from home, and knowing she is going to be coming to Denver (where she grew up and has family). It was very clear from the pressers around the Denver match that she was really happy to be here, and I'm wonder how much of an impact that will have on her club play once she gets here and on the national team going forward.
Heaps' husband works for MLS team San Diego FC, and his work requires him to be in San Diego. So, they have had to maintain a long-distance relationship, which Lindsay has said is hard thought it works. Her being in Denver should make it less difficult, which should make her overall life better.
