    here
Thanks for the int'l scoop. I've probably always been Fox's biggest cheerleader on this board. I'm not saying leave her out because of her ability, I'm saying leave her out because for sure, Giselle should also be on the roster too. And, since the opponents aren't the strongest, why not let her stay home, save her the trip, and get a look at the youngster Patterson, since the opponents will be weak.

Macario: we are already super depleted in the attack. Bringing in Macario would be bringing in someone that is a very likely long term contributor, is familiar with the way Emma wants to play, and who we are still figuring how where she best fits.

Girma, seems to be the current stalward, and the future of our back line. Barring inability to suit up, one has to think that anyone in our backline going forward, will need to develop some chemistry with Girma. But, since these are not top opponents, maybe we leave Naomi in England, let her rest. who would you bring in on the back line?

One other thing, I inadvertently left out Yohannes. Mixed feelings there. She is a key piece, going forward. But, also, she's 17, does she really need to be flying cross the Atlantic for every second (third) tier friendly? I'm not opposed to giving her the time off.

What would be your roster? I know what I think, I posted mine to see who other people would bring.

Macario and Heaps played really well together in the SheBleives Cup. Shaw, I think, was underwhelming.
I agree that Tiernan has really been great so far this season, but as was pointed out to me earlier, she probably needs some U23 experience to show she can rise to a national team level. Still, exciting!
Will Yohannes be brought in? [edit - didn't page turn]
Likewise, I also would like to see Moultrie start as she's been playing well so far this season.
As for the 'keeper, I think Tullis-Joyce has become the clear starter. At least based on what Hayes has said.

Granted, Girma was just back from an extended injury, so was likely not fully match fit anyway (she looked better in the first leg as a sub). I'm wondering if she is left off the next NT roster to allow her to recover.

Re: Shaw, iirc she played as a wing. I've never seen her impress in that position. I'm a huge fan of her as the top-of-the-triangle/SS/10, whatever you want to call that position.

Respect your opinion, but I think pushing Tiernan to the U-23's would be making her jump through a hoop, just for the sake of making her jump through a hoop. These are not strong opponents, the forward pool is very depleted, why not bring her in now?

And, as always, who would you bring in for the NT friendlies?

My comments re Tiernan apply to Hanks, too.

Neither Tiernan or Hanks are national team material at this time. Tiernan has scored some sitters in the box, and a shot form distance on a massive goalkeeping error. She lacks technical skills. She runs hard and plays hard but that is not national team worthy.

Hanks had a breakout game against Neely Martin - a DM who was playing right back due to team injuries. Martin does not have any pace so Hanks looked like a burner. She is not even starting every game for Portland.

Oh, I'm excited with how well she's doing, don't get me wrong. But she's only in her first season, and there is a worry to me of pushing her too far to fast. It seems Sentnor has experienced this some, as she jumped from U20 to senior NT, and her form seems to be off (I would guess it is mental). Sure, we need more of a pool, but Hayes is also experimenting with formation and tactics.

I've seen Hanks and Tiernan play at least three matches. I'm judging them on what I see.

What 6 attacking players would you bring in?

We need more wingers than 9s.

One cannot live on fish n chips & a cup of tea alone, and with club season over those English based will be homesick & dangling to get back home to some good ole Big Mac & vanilla latte from Starbucks. So for the senior squad I envisioned more Euro based players. Starting lineup probably be

    Thompson……….Macario……Sears
    ……………………Heaps
    …………,..Yohannes….Coffey
    Dunn……Girma….Mckeowan…..Fox
    ………………Tullis-Joyce

subs; Shaw, Flint, Albert, Williams, Hatch, Moultrie

U23(though more than likely some be moved up)

    …………Tiernan……..Turner
    Graham…. Fuller…..Kennedy …Lema
    Riehl……Bugg..,………..?……….Giselle T
    …………………….?……………….:…..
Going with an 4-4-2 since no need for an over complicated passing scheme with such an brand new team, the speed upfront should do it.
I would have added Savvy King at CB, cept she’s recovering from open heart surgery after collapsing last outing.

That's probably very close to what will happen. It would be really interesting to see a Fuller-Kennedy midfield. They are sooo similar. Maybe Kennedy is better at the final pass, but maybe Fuller would be if she were given that role at KC. Both are young mids playing great soccer.

    Using @RalleeMonkey and @hotjam2 's selections as a starting point, I'd select:

Forwards: A Thompson, Sears, Macario, Tiernen, Biyendolo, Hatch, A Sanchez
Midfielders: Coffey, Moultrie, Hutton, Flint, Yohannes, Heaps, Shaw
Defenders: Patterson, I Rodriguez, Fox, G Thompson, Girma, McKeown, Perry, Sams
    Keepers: Phallon, Angelina Anderson, ?

Notes: Cooper won't be ready; Moving Sentnor down; Tiernen could be now or next month, worth a look; Sanchez is up and down but played great against Orlando; Hatch and Biyendolo lead by example.

MF: Adding Moultrie because she's playing well and should get return look; Flint deserves call and can be a threat on set pieces; Omitting Albert just to make room for others or could put Hutton with U23s, but she's also playing well. Shaw is hard to replace for the seniors, but she's not been performing well for club or country so I considered not calling her.

Def: Start looking to replace Dunne: Isabel Rodriguez is back to starting for KC and has good crossing and passing (Reale is good prospect but keep her at U23s for now); Perry is a rookie impressing for Portland, too old for U23s; continue on with Patterson, Thompson Mckeown; return Girma to national team duty as she's a leader and should be healthy.

    U23s Playing against Germany

    Forwards
:Tordin, Dahlien, Hanks, Jameese Joseph,Turner, Lema
Midfielders: Sentnor, Taylor Huff, Riley Jackson, Ally Lemos, Kennedy Fuller
Defenders: Chavoshi, J. Bugg, Trinity Armstrong, Gaetino, Lilly Reale, Emily Mason, M Morris
    Keepers: ?

    Notes:
Many of these were called last time March/April. Adding more of the U20s from last year who are continuing to play a lot. Forwards are well stocked

MF a little sparse had to bring down Sentnor and bring-up Fuller. All getting good minutes with club.

Def: Bringing up Bugg and Armstrong from youth 'cause they've earned starts for clubs and are definitely prospects for full team; continue with others who were on previous call-up. Morris is a forward but could be used at right back or wingback.

Just thought of another possible call-up for U23s: Annie Karich, 21 CB/DM for Freiburg in Frauen Bundesliga. Has 1.5 seasons there from college. Has 36 total appearances, 25 starts. Was on U20 team for 2022 WC but didn't play.

Hayes seems to like G Thompson, so I'd expect to see her in the team as well. Personally, I'm not sure she is quite a full NT player, but Hayes may see something I don't. Agreed she would be better on the U23 squad at this point.

Just saw some analysis on Tiernen, and she has more to learn to be at full national team level. It basically amounts to learning to play at a new level versus more difficult and experienced players. Her curve seems to be steep, but it also seems she is not ready for the full NT, yet. That said, I have great hopes, and her teamwork with A Thompson seems to be very good.

@soccernutter : understood re Tiernan. I chose her to fill-out the roster. She would be good in the U23s and could replace one of their forwards.

If Biyendolo is on the roster, I assume she starts.

Schupansky is 21. I'd include her in the U-23 roster.

Here is the roster for the most recent U-23 Camp. I would guess the roster for any upcoming matches will look very different, based on how NWSL has started. Also, shout out to Savy King - hope she's recovering well from whatever happened to her.

Goalkeepers (3): Izzy Lee (Illinois; Western Springs, Ill.), Nona Reason (Clemson; Noblesville, Ind.), Stephanie Sparkowski (Unattached; East Meadow, N.Y.)
Defenders (8): Zara Chavoshi (Orlando Pride; Potomac, Md.), Eva Gaetino (Paris Saint-Germain, FRA; Dexter, Mich.), Savy King (Angel City FC; West Hills, Calif.), Emily Mason (Seattle Reign; Flemington, N.J.), Lilly Reale (Gotham FC; Hingham, Mass.), Evelyn Shores (North Carolina; Atlanta, Ga.), Gisele Thompson (Angel City FC; Studio City, Calif.), Amelia Van Zanten (Florida State; Buffalo Grove, Ill.)
Midfielders (6): Meg Boade (Washington Spirit; Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Abi Brighton (Juventus FC, ITA; Beaufort, S.C.), Taylor Huff (Bay FC; Mansfield, Ohio), Riley Jackson (North Carolina Courage; Roswell, Ga.), Yuna McCormack (Florida State; Mill Valley, Calif.), Sally Menti (Seattle Reign; Seattle, Wash.)
Forwards (7): Maddie Dahlien (Seattle Reign; Edina, Minn.), Caiya Hanks (Portland Thorns FC; Kailua-Kona, Hawaii), Jameese Joseph (Chicago Stars; Beltsville, Md.), Quincy McMahon (San Diego Wave; Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Makenna Morris (Washington Spirit; Germantown, Md.), Sarah Schupansky (Gotham FC; Pittsburgh, Pa.), Reilyn Turner (Portland Thorns FC; Aliso Viejo, Calif.)
