Interesting in some ways. Glad to see Ertz and O'Hara back. Lets see how they look. Disappointed that Macario isnt able to go yet. For me, she's the key to us having a chance to succeed at the WC. If Macario does come back.... what forward goes? For me its Rapinoe.
So .... I'm not bias since I'm an Angel City fan..... but I'm secretly bias.... when is Julie Ertz going to announce where she's playing since apparently she needs to locate to a club before the Womens World Cup 2023 right?
WHY does Ertz need to play club? Her Red Stars playing stats came to a whole 29 minutes in 2021 yet she started in all 6 Olympic Games. Rapinoe hasn’t yet to play for the Reign season/Macario hasn’t yet stepped unto the training field. Got the funny feeling all three will make it on Vlatko’s final WC list
Was reported today that Marcario has rejoined Lyon. Probably 2 to 3 week before they begin giving her some playing time in a match.
Lyon only has about six games left in their season since they're out of the Champions League. Her contract is up in two months, by the way. (Will she sign with an NWSL team to get in a few more games before the World Cup?! Who knows?)
Ertz seems to be slow playing the club signing because she probably doesn't want to do it. Will Vlatko let her call the shots or will he stick to his word that she needs to play. And if she does sign the clubs can likely see her half ass commitment to club, so why would they want to sign her? Someone like Stoney would not put up with her disrupting the culture and having to answer questions about her every week (if she is not fully committed). It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
