OK, let's be reasonable for a second.

If you aren't a premium member, you aren't going to be able to use BigSoccer without care on Sunday. It's going to be busy. Thus let's take some of it offline and hit the AIM chatrooms like we did for the World Cup. This will help prevent busy signals and make everyone happy.

First thing is first though, everyone will need to have AOL Instant Messenger. Just go to www.netscape.com and go to their instant messanging link. They will have directions on what to do from there.

Second, everyone is going to need to join a chatroom by the name of "USvES Discussion Room 1". Since each chatroom holds only 23 people, if you can't get in... try using a "2" or a "3" and so on.

Once you have logged onto AIM, join up in the chatroom. Just click on "People" on your AIM main window, click on "Send Chat Invitation". Where it asks for who to send it to, enter your own user name. Where it has the chatroom name, delete it and enter in the name I mentioned above.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to IM me before the game. Once the game begins, I'll be in a different room watching. I'll pop back in every now and then, but you can't count on me helping you into the rooms in a prompt fashion.

The game will be televised on ESPN, this Sunday at 3 P.M. ET. If you have any questions whatsoever for me, please contact me via AIM instant messanging(jmeissen0 is my name) or PM me as well.

    See you tomorrow,
    -jim

if we use the chat room, a larger % of people are going to be bouncing around BS

pretty much the biggest killer during a game is people refreshing to see the latest post in a pbp thread... plus people will start threads during the game when someone does something stupid or great... and everybody has to see it

just stay off the damn site for a bit, let things cool down... it's not going anywhere, and a great side benefit will be that people will have cooled off, horrible threads will have already been locked/deleted and everyone won't be scrolling through the pbp thread

AOL messenger sucks. Use Yahoo! IM instead. It can hold at least 50 people per room.

Busy or not I just can't wait for this one to kick off. Im losing sleep thinking about the Mathis/Twellman forward combo. Im also looking forward to seeing Aiden Brown...even though he should probably bring a chair and a TV to the game since he won't have anything to do. We better close a great year out in a great way.

AIM is far more popular and most everyone on these boards has it... thus we use AIM

23 is better than 50, it already scrolls like crazy with 23... i wouldn't want to think what it would be like at 50

pething... it'll open whenever someone tries to get in... i figure people will start showing up around noon... i know that once i get in there i'll start sending out invites

i'll also try to keep myself in all the rooms we open, that way i can direct people to a room if they need help

OH MY GOD!!! One of the Salvadorans is rolling around holding his knee. I think he might really be hurt. Oh man, look at how he is limping. He surely needs a sub.... I can't believe the US is such a bunch of hacks...

I don't really have to put the winky face there do I? It's pretty obvious, right?

Why have pbp thread if not to be used?

Honestly, if you want everyone to use AIM or Yahoo chat instead of the bigsoccer boards, why not just post a message saying so, and close the thread? It's an interesting strategic decision to discourage users from using your service, rather than catch the hard-core dedicated eyeballs that a live event like this always brings. Unless of course you want to give money to AOL and Yahoo.

Man, it is beyond me. What is the knock on this guy? As far as I can tell he has the moves, can finish and is tough as nails. Maybe one of you might know.
