I thought before the Everton loan that they'd be lucky to get 2 mil for him. I wonder if his 4 goals in 7 starts made MLS up their asking price, and more importantly whether that made some English clubs more willing to spend.

    hmmm,

As I expected, MLS asking unrealistic transfer fees. I smell Doug Logan lurking...

Well, of course MLS asks for a higher-than-probable transfer fee. It's all negotiating. If MLS starts out that high, and someone bites, then it's a good job by MLS.

What is so unrealistic about MLS giving itself room to negotiate?

Sure FF, but if the price is too high to start out, Everton, in this case, won't even bother talking because it knows the amount MLS would come down in price would not be much.

:::thinking of some Jeffy coments to put in this place just for FF's enjoyment:::: :D

Is this any higher than anyone expected? Perusing the boards, I had seen expectations of just over $3M.

From my understanding, this price is not absurd. It is a reasonable first offer for an older player of Bakes' caliber.

I don't understand why everyone points out that Everton can't afford that/will not pay that much. Tough sh|t, they just took themselves out of the equation.

I agree with CrewToon, I think MLS is asking too much for BMB. The market hasn't changed for players, I don't see Moyes putting up this $$ for him or coming close.

MLS have denied the reports as false. McBride doesn't 'partly' own that site (or there would be quotes, yes?) and this is from "the sports network"

    got to laugh.

Oh yes, everyone knows that if you own a site, you must put your own quotes on it as a certificate of authenticity.

Hey, $2.7 million is only around 1.5 million pounds- double what Everton was going to offer. Not too far off for some other premiership clubs looking for strikers in the summer.

ahh... good random talk to pass the time.

    1) McBride signed a contract with Major League Soccer
    2) McBride has family in Columbus, including a young child (and either one on the way, or a newborn).
    3) He wants to stay in Columbus (look at #2).
    4) MLS wants him here because of what he means to the league. (Yeah, poster-boy and that. And it is good to support our USMNT in club and country.)

    1) David Moyes wants him

    He ain't going nowhere.

And he does have partial ownership in the site ;) (just had to throw that in). :p

Once you answer this question you realize there is no need for argument here.

MLS wants to sell ? or Everton wants to buy ?

Hey, I was only saying. I know people get attacked for sneezing if you aren't part of the net groupies, but geez.

But seriously. A) Everton don't have the cash and won't spend it on a player near on 30. B) MLS have denied the reports linking McBride to a move past the current loan deal as false.

So, he'll be back in Columbus by April 5 LA opener.

    The clues are there kiddies.

If you had a respectful point to make, you should have made it the first time.

You chose tobe a jerk and got it right back, at which point you decided to boo hoo about what meanies we all are.

    Piss off.

I have it on pretty good authority that he doesn't want to move, so the point is moot. He's a family man now, can't blame him.

Well now, that's odd. Everybody else who read your obnoxious post thought the same thing. You were being a jerk. If you don't like hearing it, then don't be a jerk.

Got no chip. Just don't like trolls. And neither does anybody else. If you can't cope with that, too bloody bad. How could I have a "chip" on some clown I never even heard of before?

And I sure as hell ain't your "mate". Like I said, junior, piss off.

Funny thing is....most people on this site WOULD blame him for not wanting the TEST himself or PROVE something....not for having a family.

I mean, the guy is pulling down the league max...and at least half that with endorsements (probably much much more).

That's a pretty good life to give your family and not have to worry yourself with moving.
