First off, i know that there is Bradenton and the Bradenton Academics in the PDL... What i am suggesting; however, is a set-up of U-19 (for high school players) and a U-23 league (for college players) across the country for USSF developmental teams. The reason i suggest this is that the MLS academy approach has seen a significant decrease in quality in performance from our youth teams. More, the reserve system has proved difficult to implement and that the college system has proven to not being up to par with other youth systems across the globe. In this system, the best American players from each region would be selected to play in a premier residency program that will ready them for success. More, college players would be able to continue their season and play more competitive games. My model: Season starts in January; ends in July. Teams: 1. Bradenton (All-American) 2. Southeast Academy (GA, FL, SC, NC, AL, AR, TN, MS, LA) 3.Texas Academy (TX) 4. California Academy (CA) 5. Pacific Northwest Academy (WA, OR, MT, ID) 6. Midwest Academy (OH, KY, IN, IL, MI, WI, WV, MN) 7. Heartland Academy (IA, OK, ND, SD, NE, WY, MO) 8. Mid-Atlantic Academy (VA, MD, DC, DL, PA, NJ, New York City) 9. Northeast Academy (NY, CT, NH, VT, ME, MA, RI) 10. Southwest Academy (AZ, CO, NV, UT, NM)
Its an idea but we already have entites you speak of. DA for U18 PDL for U23 Since the goal is for professional teams to find professional players I want them picking and choosing who they want in residency. I like your idea of residency and talent concentration but see some existing stucture there to do it. MLS first have to build them. I do not want USSF deciding who has pro potential. So you have good idea. How about these as divisions up to the 1st division to create that pyramid we need players working up through. Of course elite players could skip levels and create loan agreements. Its a start so players know their level of play and next goal in the chain 6th Unofficial Division: HS/US Club/USYS etc. 5th Division - DA 4th Division - PDL/MLS Reserve/NCAA Partnership 3rd Division - USL 2nd Division - NASL 1st Division - MLS
