Who: Seattle Sounders @ San Francisco Earthquakes Where: Kezar Stadium, San Francisco, CA When: 7:30 PM, Tuesday, 6/26 Watch: ??? Listen: *snicker* I haven't seen anything on whether or not the Earthquakes will be streaming this, but they did stream their 4th round game.. Unfortunately they used the webcam off a laptop, so it was like watching a red ants vs black ants war from the top of the Space Needle. Oh, and San Jose happens to have the worst announcers in the league, but they took the night off and were replaced by their even crappier interns. Seriously, it was bad. Oh, and did I mention that the Earthquakes are a bunch of babies and refused to reschedule the game to Wednesday despite pressure from both the Sounders and USSF? Funny thing is that a one day delay would actually help them as well since they are playing in Salt Lake on Saturday, so it would give them an extra day rest, but instead they'll be traveling on Sunday, "resting" on Monday, then playing Tuesday. Oh well. Good news is that if we win this, we'll be hosting the semifinal. Yay.
i'll be there. who's starting? i guess Leo Gonzalez and Alvaro Fernandez will play since they missed the last game. and Fredy Montero should play since he's out the next game right? maybe STEVE ZAKUANI???
Thanks for the reminder Evan! Now that the Portland game is over, I can make a semi-informed decision on who will be picked to start. Yoshou's Guaranteed to be Wrong Predicted Line-up is: ----------- Ochoa ------------- Montero ----- Fernandez --- Rose/Carrasco --- Cato Gonzalez ------ Ianni/Hurtado ---- Seamon ------------------- Webber ------------------- I honestly have no idea if Gonzalez is healthy, but, who knows... Seamon got the nod over Scott for the simple reason that I saw a tweet from him saying he was in San Fran. I don't think Zakuani is ready to start, but I would not be surprised to see him come in around the 60th minute or so.
BTW. San Jose will be streaming this game online at: http://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/2012/06/usoc-live-earthquakes-vs-sounders-fc I would seriously consider muting the San Jose stream and either firing up the radio and tuning it to 97.3 FM, or the audio stream at SoundersFC.com
Is 97.3 broadcasting it? I thought I read that they weren't. Hope they do, I'll be driving. I want to see -----------Montero---Ochoa-------- Flaco-------Caskey---Alonso-----Cato -Gonzalez----Hurtado--Ianni---Evans --------------------Weber-------------- Johnson on at the half or shortly thereafter I think we'll play ------------Montero---Levesque--------- Flaco------Rose-----Alonso------Cato Gonzalez----Hurtado----Ianni----Scott -----------------------Weber----------
Do you have a source that says the USSF was pressuring for a reschedule? As for the Quakes not agreeing, you have to remember that San Jose plays LA on Saturday in a match that has been moved to Stanford Stadium and is a sellout (50,000). The Quakes have heavily promoted that game and it will be by far their largest attendance for a home match this year. So moving the game to Wed definitely hurts the Quakes, contrary to what you said, as they definitely are focused on playing well on Saturday to convert more fans. The scheduling is unfortunate, but San Jose had to play a USOC game on a Tuesday after playing in KC on a Sunday earlier this year, so it's not just Seattle that has gotten the short turnaround this year. And San Jose just played two games on the road in the last week, at altitude, so it's not like Seattle is playing at that much of a handicap.
Can't wait to see the looks on your faces when the Quakes knock you guys out of this crappy tournament that you guys regard so highly..ahahahaha
Ooh Ooh PaPaSmurf PaPaSmurf why don't you go smurf off on your own board. You smurfing smurfity smurfer
Woah! Woah! Ed! There is no need for using language like that! We've got children that read these forums.
it's easy to get pessimistic during a winless streak, but i reckon the Quakes are overdue for a loss, and the Sounders are overdue for a win. and the Quakes won't have much home field advantage at Kezar...
I'm seeing this glass half empty. All signs point to the Sounders' run ending tonight; Away, one day's rest after a grueling derby loss away, against the top team in the West that beat us earlier this year. I don't see this ending well.
Here's my best guess on a lineup: I don't quite see Johnson or Rosales playing a role in this game. Both would probably be too much of an injury risk to play. If they do play it'll proabably be last 5-10 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised to see Montero or Alonso come on at half or 60 minute mark. ---------------Ochoa---Levesque-------------- Flaco----------------Rose-----------------Cato --------------------Carrasco------------------- Leo--------Hurtado--------Ianni--------Evans ----------------------Weber--------------------- Subs: Meredith, Scott, Burch, Alonso, Caskey, Seamon, Montero Decent starting squad w/ Flaco, Cato. We just need to shut them down defensively and show up offensively. I'm looking at you Flaco. Or maybe this if Sigi wants to help out Evans on the right defensively: ---------------Ochoa-----Cato-------------- Flaco----------------Rose-------------Levesque --------------------Carrasco------------------- Leo--------Hurtado--------Ianni--------Evans ----------------------Weber---------------------
Thanks for proving my point. Against a NASL team that had to fly across the entire country. Totally comparable. I mean, it's not like you started 8 reserve/bench players and 3 starters in that game or anything... Oh, wait, you did.
He played it a couple of times after he came back from the 2009 Gold Cup. He sucked. But then, Evans was completely messed up when he got back from the Gold Cup anyways. Bradley playing him at RB messed with his head and he was out of it the rest of the season.
Don't see how I proved your point. You said: I pointed out that moving the game to Wed would not help the Quakes, it would hurt them because it would give them less rest before Saturday for a game that they have heavily promoted and is a rivalry game. You also neglected to provide any proof that the USSF asked for the game to be moved. But go ahead and believe what you want. I agree that the scheduling gives the Quakes an advantage, but those are the breaks.
i think sigi & schmetzer are sitting in their hotel room last night "so...who the eff do we play?" as much as i like roger, i think i'd rather ochoa take the start this time & let roger be super sub, whereever he is needed. i doubt we'll see Zakuani on the field, maybe in the 18 though isn't there a section for rivalry sh!t talking?
I'm not going to speak for Ed, but that's pretty weak sauce for me to unleash the mod powers. If he was persistent about it, perhaps, or if he was being more offensive, but a drive by usually doesn't require the tools.
and actually, did that section go away with the redesign? i admitedly haven't looked very hard, but i can't seem to find it. anyhoot, supporting our boys tonight. i have some blood runes ready, a goat to sacrifice and my lucky boxers on. (ok only one of those is actually true) TAKE 'EM ALL!!
Well... We're f**ked. ---------- Ochoa -------- Levesque ------ Fernandez -- Carrasco/Rose -- Cato Gonzalez ----- Ianni/Scott ---- Evans -------------------- Weber --------------
