Soccer Dome is showing the game! Right now they aren't planning to charge a cover but if they do, max $5. They have some food, beverages (soft drinks, beer) and a bigscreen TV. www.soccerdomeamerica.com for location and directions.
Yahoo!!!! Way to go NCFire!!!! See you guys there on Saturday. Let's be sure to re-pay SoccerDome for providing this service that no one else around here was willing to.
Thanks for the hard work, NCFire. Assuming that I can come up with something to convince my wife that I deseve an evening out, I'll be there.
Its only an inch There is no decent reason why weather should be a problem for this but I'll call tomorrow afternoon to make sure.
I just gave Soccerdome a call and they said the plan is still to show the game. See you guys there! In other news, I've been trying to drum up interest in a "Triangle Area" soccer email list that I started over at Yahoo. I thought some of you following this thread might be interested. Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/trisoccerfan I certainly don't mean for this to be a replacement for Big Soccer but thought this would make a nice informal forum in a less structured format that would promote more social interaction between folks here in the Triangle. Aaargh! I called them no less than 3 times in the last two weeks and they told me "yes" everytime. I had always had a suspicious feeling about this after I found out how much Setanta was asking for commercial establishments. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for the FSW tape-delay broadcast.
Fortunately (unfortunately for SuperDave) this was a just a big communication problem. I went on over to SoccerDome and they did manage to get the game on for us. We missed the first ten minutes and the first goal, but it was great to put some faces with some of the screen names. I hope too many people weren't turned away by SuperDave's post. Afterwards, I talked to the guys at SoccerDome and they basically said that anytime we're willing to cover the cost of the PPV, they'll be happy to show it for us...and next time they'll try to get in on before the game starts Jarrett
Following up my own post...it appears that SoccerDome is just a regular DirectTV subscriber so they get the PPV at the 19.95 price, not the $350 that the sports bars were quoted. In the future we should have no trouble covering that cost if we want to do this again.
