I don't know what happened with Slonina at Barnsley.

....................................even if he goes to Strasbourg as a #2 to start, it's still a good step up from the limbo he's been in.

As far as Daryl Dike to Orlando goes, let's hope he can get back on track in his career. Some guys don't come back from one Achilles injury, and he's had two. I'm not worried about the USMNT with him. Let's just see him get back to playing and having fun.

 

He started great at Barnsley, helping them beat rivals Sheffield United. Then he starting letting stupid goals and was dropped to the bench just before he broke his finger.

 

Things just didn't work out.

I can't be told that League One is a higher level than MLS. I'm not going to accept that.

Sometimes players inexplicably lose confidence.

If Chelsea could sell Slonina, they would. The fact that they'd move him to an affiliate has me worried that those offers aren't attractive right now.
I don't know why the two parties can't agree to mutually terminate his contract. Maybe they will but first need to explore these options by which Chelsea can recoup some of their investment.

I'm not particularly interested in Slonina moving to Chelsea's AAA team. Just start over somewhere else.

 

Mixture of letting in goals that are just unacceptable especially for s team that was hoping for promotion then he had a fractured finger that ended up keeping him out of the year.

From what I remember the feeling was as pure shot stopper Gaga was good but he was lost when he had to come off his line. Now this was 2 years ago so hopefully even in the wilderness.

I have questions if Gaga is ready for Ligue 1, but from what ive gathered Strasborg is feeling pressure from their fans to actually have a consistent roster for more than a year so I could see why gambling on Gaga could be appealing

 

My guess is he's not ready for Ligue Un but Blueco are transferring some assets between subsidiaries.

Both teams are facing fines for FFP breaches.

Chelsea was fined just €1m ($.14m) in June with a further €2m deferred, after a season in which it won the Club World Cup and got almost $115m from FIFA.
One year ago, Chelsea was fined €31m ($35.5m) and was set stricter financial targets, which the club just missed by spending more than 70% of its revenue on wages and transfers in 2025, UEFA said.

Strasbourg, which is owned by Chelsea's holding company BlueCo, also has a deferred fine of €12m ($13.7m). The French club also was told by UEFA to "significantly decrease" players costs for 2026, when it will not play in European competitions.

 

Not that France was struggling in developing players but all the financial issues with the French league and their TV deal has meant that they have a much higher proportion of minutes going to youth players compared to other top 5 leagues. Which is only furthering their talent pipeline I’d imagine. But good also for Slonina if financial reasons mean he gets an opportunity. And if he starts there and plays decent he’s basically the starter for us too.

Valentijn Driessen thinks that Fulham, PSV, and Ricardo Pepi are not being entirely honest about what happened during the winter transfer window. The journalist from De Telegraaf said this on Tuesday evening on Vandaag Inside .

When Johan Derksen asks why Pepi isn't going to Fulham anymore, Driessen chimes in. “Of course he was rejected.”

“But they aren’t telling you that. They had everything sorted out; he was only going to England for the medical examination, and then suddenly he comes back,” Driessen continues. “It’s going to be difficult to sell that boy.”

 

Enquiring minds want to know what the truth is then...........................................

Is that journalist implying that Pepi failed the medical? That's what I'm taking from it.

 

Yes. And they are implying there's something perhaps more persistent there, I think.

 

As I posted in here a number of weeks ago, Tony Khan claimed in a June interview that the Pepi deal broke down because Fulham saw something in the medical they didn't like (see ~45min mark). And it would appear that now we might be getting confirmation of that from PSV's side (or at least PSV connected reporters).

Before projecting anything for Reynolds I'd like to know why he is a such subpar player. It's obviously that he is big and fast and was supposedly a good crosser based on a dozen games that we've watched. But I've already seen big and fast EPB (not the same position, but still) who is 29 now and still didn't learn to play.

 

EPB situation has more to to with long term excruciating medical pain that took almost two years to recover from than not learning how to play. He actually had a solid Europa campaign last year that was noted

 

Average in sub MLS league.

 

I don't follow the Greek Super League but hear it's recovering from the lows that followed the economic crisis. What's the level of play like?
